My Japanese farther in law booked is in this hotel for our trip to Kyoto. The hotel has an onsen(Japanese hot spring/public bath). I have tattoos and my wife checked the hotels website for information about tattoos in the onsen. There was none. On my third visit to the onsen I was approved and told that tattoos were not allowed in a Japanese bath. I had just finished with my bath and was drying off. I was still naked as I was still in the locker room and the person who approved me was a little Japanese lady. Our meals were delicious but the service was very inconsistent and the amount of food is a bit much. Both nights the meal was around 10 courses and the timing brought us food from back to back, to over half an hour between items. As Japan is a no tip culture there is no incentive for improving the service. This review is written as a heads up to foreigners, especially the hour spring portion of...

Read moreThe hotel is a little outside Kyoto proper, requiring a 12 minute bus ride to the nearest subway stop (Katsura Station). The rooms, small with cheap finishes. However it is clean, well maintained and the staff very helpful and friendly. There are conference rooms, an integrative medicine clinic on the top floor, the bus stop right out front. There is also a shopping center behind the building and they have an onsen on site.||||Once you get used to the bus schedule - they come fairly frequently - it's actually quite easy to get into Kyoto. I would recommend this for the budget...
