We are a couple with two young kids (1 & 5y) leaving in Japan. We stayed 2 nights at Mercure Hotel in a Japanese family room. The hotel is isolated in the area and has a nice sea view. The positive point of this hotel is the nice onsen and its quiteness. First impression when you enter in the building, is a very good impression, with modern and fancy lobby.
The bedroom is old, clean and needs refreshing but acceptable for the price we paid. no room cleaning for 2 nights stay...
However, we would like to share a few things which are not acceptable for an Accor Hotel:
on friday morning we had a nice breakfast enjoying the view on the bay, definitely the big asset of this hotel...
We didn't choose the package with dinner included. However, the hotel is really isolated and the 1st closest restaurant is located 20 minutes driving. on friday night, We wanted to stay at the hotel for the dinner. We asked reception if it was possible to book a table. First, they asked us if we agree on the price : 20,000 JPY for 2 adults and 2 kids, like if we were negociating the price...no other solution, we said yes! After 20 long minutes waiting, they finally said that the restaurant is fully booked for the night...it was 6.30pm... Reception staff including the manager were not able to propose any other solution...neither an alternative like advising us some local restaurants in Miyazu. Finding a restaurant after 7pm in Japan is not easy.
on saturday morning, the breakfast was served in this huge conference room without any windows located at 1st floor of the hotel. People were parked like animals in a fair, sharing long and narrow tables. This is absolutely not a nice experience when you come for holidays and want to rest, even more when you know that the hotel has other places for serving the meals. unacceptable from a 3/4 stars Accor hotel again! Besides, we realised that the 20,000 JPY dinner on previous night in a room without any windows, would have been a bad experience as well.
This hotel benefits from a very nice location and facilities, but the management did not understand what should be the expectations of quality of service and customer care apart from saying sorry...Need to be...
Read moreWe stayed here for ten days and it was way too long. I only say this due to the location of the hotel in relation to the town and not because there isn’t a lot to see in Miyazu, Amanohashidate and surrounds. The hotel operates a shuttle twice in the morning and four times in the afternoon (the last one is 5:20pm) but this does not allow you to eat dinner in the town. It was ¥3600 to travel from Miyazu Station to the hotel by taxi so you end up stranded at the hotel with only the buffet dinner option unless you’re happy to take a taxi. The buffet breakfast and dinner is the same every day so after two days it becomes tiresome. We ended up getting noodles from the supermarket in town and cooking them with the kettle as the hotel doesn’t offer a microwave. The rooms are amazingly spacious and unlike any hotel I’ve ever stayed in throughout Japan. The lounge hour is a nice touch serving alcohol, soft drink and tea. Except at breakfast, there’s no opportunity for a hot coffee any other time of day at the hotel. Iced coffee is available from the vending machine. The hotel has a laundry and onsen too. Staff are very grumpy in the restaurant except for the two lovely women who cook the eggs and pancakes. In ten days, we only had housekeeping once despite requesting it two additional times. They don’t clean your room for stays of four...
Read moreSuch mediocre service. This place was seriously disappointing, the photos are so misleading too.
To begin with my room was dirty, full of spider webs still occupied by plenty of spiders all over the ceiling. The room smells of mold but if you open the windows be ready to be invaded by mosquitoes because there’s no mesh on the windows to prevent that from happening. Well at least the spiders in my room were able to feast on the mosquitoes, how nice.
The room is not clean, everything smells, everything looks old and stained.
The bathroom is tiny and old.
I tried to tell them at the reception about this, but their response was a half cooked apology and that’s it.
The pool looks quite big in their photos but it’s actually tiny, not big enough for such a big hotel hosting so many people. It was ridiculous. Also it’s open from 9:30 am to 5pm??? What? Why is there a time table for the pool and why is it so short? Also the pool is full of kids screaming, definitely not a place for adults to relax.
This place was too expensive for what I got, if I would’ve known I’d be staying in such filth I would have slept in my car on the side of the road.
The one star I’m giving them is because the breakfast was at least decent, but not nice, not delicious,...
