Had booked via email few weeks prior to our stay. Arrived to find booking wasn't there. They had rooms available however the reception staff were rather unhelpful in suggesting suitable packages. The meal was disappointing in quality despite it being the upgraded option. The room was spacious and the views were lovely, however, there were mites/ bed bugs that we discovered at around 11:30pm. There were many tiny black/brown ones, red ones, and larger black ones. A male staff member did come to the room when we called to inform them. ||He prepared a different room for us, however did not even offer to assist moving our luggage (it was myself and a friend - two females). Upon arrival at new room, we found it was not clean. There was hair on the floor. No kettle either. He suggested we have a bath to ensure we don't take mites to new room. Despite it being his suggestion, the lights in the hallways to the onsen bathrooms were not turned on. It was a creepy walk. ||Check out was even more surprising to find the staff, including the manager, did not seem phased by what had happened and charged us full price. ||None of the staff we encountered were particularly interested in customer service nor trained particularly well. ||Very tired and disappointing stay for a hotel in such a lovely location. I hope they improve cleanliness and staff training to focus more on...

We entered an empty lobby and had two workers scurrying about with our arrival who quickly informed us that, unfortunately, the boiler to the outdoor bath had just broken.||||The upshot was that being only one of two rooms, we had the indoor baths to ourselves. The room had an amazing view of the cove and the evening meal was served inside our room. The supper was Japanese (as is typical of ryokan) and delicious. The bedding was so/so, but thanks to extra comforters we were able to fabricate some makeshift pillows to add to the soba pillows that are ubiquitous in Japanese inns.||||Breakfast was a quiet, Japanese affair but, sadly, no coffee.||||My impression is that Nagisaya has seen its best days, but it still has much to offer in terms of its view, food, and--if the boiler ever gets...
Read moreTo everyone at Hotel Nagisa,
At Hotel Nagisa, I am always able to have wonderful adventures. Encounters with delicious foods, paths leading to lovely hot springs, and lights guiding me to various places.
All of you are wonderful craftsmen and craftswomen who take pride in your work, always treating me with care, and I am truly grateful.
I will be staying a little longer, but since I plan to leave early in the mornings and return late at night from now on, there may be fewer opportunities to thank you directly. For that reason, I would like to express my gratitude in advance.
Each day, discovering something new and meeting kind people is my greatest joy.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
Maxime
P.S.: It would be nice to have a laundry service (there is a laundry spot near the JR station), and to have the possibility of a bento box when incapable of attending the regular hours for breakfast &...
