The first thing they should but don’t really make obvious when booking on a third party site like booking.com is that this is an entire island resort with various resorts. When booking ensure you know which resort you’re in, whether it is Terrace Lodge, Nagi Hotel, Kaze Hotel, Minato Hotel. This will help with navigating which car park and reception you need to go to.
After we drove around and found the correct reception to check into, we were pleasantly surprised to find our amazing and beautiful room with a view of the port. We stayed in the terrace lodge. The “Front”was very helpful and explained (in English) in detail and in a structured manner, the restaurants/food available on the island (for dinner and breakfast), the various complementary spas available across the island, cafes with complimentary drinks, free rental bikes, shuttle bus and tuktuk services and their run times and the recreational activities we can book in for. He even asked what our dinner plans were for tonight and the rest of our stay to ensure we have thought ahead due to the limited restaurants on site and two restaurants that are only available with reservation.
The location is quite far from Nagasaki city centre (35-45min drive) so something for tourists to keep in mind if you have a tight itinerary as this will add to travel time. We enjoyed the quiet and seclusion this resort offered and the rooms really were so beautiful. I imagine if you had kids or dogs, this place would be very suitable for them to enjoy too! (note not all...
Read moreWorst service staff l've ever encountered in Japan(no intention to help, cold tone, refuse to take any responsibility), very bad planning resort, leaving their customers to no choice of dinner on an isolated island in the rain. (Despite advertising multiple restaurants and guaranteed fun and relaxation, during check in, the staff said ALL are unavailable. Eating instant noodle for a by right birthday celebration.) No shelter. We arrived in the rain, no matter where we go, there’s no shelter and no clear signboard about the direction for facilities. We’re all soaked. Inconvenient. Hard to drag your luggage on the wood plank walkway, keep getting stuck in the gap, and there’s dog poops on the walkway. The so called sea view is basically staring at industrial site with a huge orange crane. The "hotel room" is like a huge container block, any tiny sound is enlarged and loud in the whole block. This is the first time I feel like checking out during checking in. When we tried to contact front desk about checking out, the first thing they talked about was we MUST pay for the second night no matter what, we didn’t even mention about not paying in the first place. When we asked to talk to manager, we got shut off, manager refused to communicate, and they said no matter who’s talking, WE MUST PAY. We tried to contact their hotel management after coming back, as expected, we didn’t get any reply from them. Refused communication. No care for...
Read moreWe stayed in a room that allows dogs to stay with us. Unfortunately, the room had a moldy smell. I opened the window to let in air and sprayed deodorant, but the smell didn't go away. Other than that there were no problems. The room was spacious and dog friendly. We enjoyed cycling around hot springs and cafes. We also had a wonderful dinner. The food was delicious and our waiter Robin was wonderful. Overall, It was a good stay. We definitely...
