My husband and I booked capsules in this hotel as a place to stay after our Fuji climb in case it took us a long time to get down. It didn't ... so first we had to kill a few hours at the 5th station (not so bad) before we could check in at 3pm. We were surprised that we needed to pay for storage lockers and showers, and there was really no place -- apart from the restaurant -- to sit together and relax. The women's capsules (separate from the men's capsules) are close to the men's bathrooms, which even immediately after check-in were surprisingly smelly -- so smelly I could smell the bathroom from my capsule. ||After trying to get settled in our respective capsules -- snug as expected, bare bones as expected, yet still lacking in features (no ventilation, and the "door" at the front was just a roller blind that blocked neither light nor sound) -- we met in the hallway and decided to change our plans. So we grabbed our stuff, dropped off our "Capsule 1" and "Capsule 28" badges and made a run for the bus to Kawaguchiko, where we found a great traditional guesthouse for less than we had paid for the capsule hotel. If you are alone, or if you are expecting to arrive late at the 5th station, this place would be okay. But for us it was better to abandon plans (and payment) and...

Read moreThis hotel has very clean and has spacious bedding along with nearby lockers, shower and toilets on same floor. They have a restaurant and store with many hiking supplies, souvenirs and snacks. Across the street is various other restaurants, coffee shops, post office, souvenirs and the nearby Yoshida Trail entrance. It truly is the perfect location to start your Fuji hike for this trail. If you choose not to hike, this area has great viewpoints and all the amenities needed to enjoy Mt. Fuji. I would give this hotel a five-star rating if it weren't for the smell of urine that accumulates late at night in the bathroom areas and seems to permeate through the halls. If you wear a mask, it's not so bad, but it's an issue that truly needs to be resolved. It's the only reason I would hesitate to recommend this location for future visitors. Re-piping may be very expensive or not feasible, so the only other thought would be to place outside...
