Shisuitei — Hotel in Numata

Following on from our stay in Hotel Wellies in Karuizawa, following the Japan Romantic Road (Google "Japan Romatic Road").||||Our next stop was the old Onsen (hot spring) town of Oigami (伍楼閣) where we decided to stay at Hotel Shisuitei.||||The town itself is a sleepy backwater, with several buildings starting to collapse into the river valley due to erosion (can be seen from the suspension bridge crossing the gorge). They have a Guinness World Record for the world's longest plastic snake (on display for tourists). We could not find any restaurants. Seems everyone eats in their own hotel.||||The hotel has a free carpark. At check-in the only languages were Japanese and Mandarin Chinese. Our room was traditional Japanese style sleeping on the floor (western style beds are available in other rooms). The hotel man made waterfall was outside our window, so we had a continuous noise of crashing water.||||Two dinner options were offered: one price set meal (in the breakfast hall) and a la carte in a restaurant. We chose the set meal. Big mistake. Felt like dining in a school hall. And food quality was not high. Recommend to order a la carte in the restaurant.||||The actual onsen (hot bath) was pretty much industry standard - nothing special.||||Breakfast was again in the "school hall". Again not impressive.||||Now I understand why this Onsen town seems to be falling by the wayside.||||After check-out we continued our romantic road trip. First stop at impressive Fukiware waterfalls (吹割の滝) then on to Lake Chuzenji (中禅寺湖), then onwards to Narita airport, but due to bad weather our flight was delayed one day, so we stayed in Route Inn Kashima...

川場スキー場の後泊で利用。 食事は18時と18:30開始を選択出来る。川場を16:30に出て17時着。食事時間には充分間に合った。

ウェルカムドリンクは素敵な景色の見えるラウンジで飲み放題。

中庭に結構凝った池と滝があり、ランドマークの篝火が炊かれていた。雪も相まって素晴らしいレイアウト。廊下にテーブルが設置されているので、ここで中庭を眺めながら、ゆっくりウェルカムドリンクを楽しめる。

今回、標準和室を選択したが、メイン和室に個室の和室と洋室がそれぞれ一室ついてたのは驚いた。十分な広さ。部屋も綺麗。

食事は上州牛のスキヤキがメイン。ご飯はおかわり自由であった。おかずは地元の食材が中心で十分な量があり、おなかいっぱいになりました。見た目は素朴な印象だけどどれも美味しい。「どこ産やねん」みたいなのをずらりと並べられるよりよほど印象が良い。

朝食も、前夜がすき焼きだったので、「こういうのこういうの」という品ぞろえで、朝からオカワリしてしまった。

配膳のミャンマーのお兄さんがとても感じが良かった。

お風呂は、メインの露天風呂は男女入れ替え制。20:30まで男性、それ以降はチェックアウトまで女性用になる。男性は飯の前に入るのがいいかも。

普通の露天風呂は男女ともそれぞれあるので、露天無し時間は無い。内湯もかなり大きく、洗い場も多いので混雑時でも洗い場難民になることはなさそう。

湯加減はどれも絶妙。脱衣所がちょっと暗い。

付帯施設は卓球とお土産屋さんのみ。 カラオケやクラブは休業中。残念。

喫煙所はロビーフロア１箇所のみ。駐車場は細い道路を挟んで隣の区画。

全体的に静かで落ち着いた雰囲気であり、のんびりするには最高であった。川場でスキーをするときの定宿決定かも。

部屋・ご飯・雰囲気でかなりコスパがいい。価格帯からするとワンランク上に感じる。値段を知らない家族は「お父さんかなり頑張ったね」と思われることうけ合い。
