Hotel Topaz Ozai Ekima — Hotel in Oita

I was here four nights while doing some work in suburban Oita. Hotel staff speak very limited English, so have your Google Translate at the ready. Wifi connectivity is excellent. The room is tiny, as is customary in Japan, and the bed is blissfully comfortable, which was a nice surprise. Tiny bath with Japanese style tub/ shower. The whole room electric requires you to put your key fob into the slot by the light switch. If you fail to do this, nothing will work. This also means your heat will not stay on while you are away. However, the heater quickly bring the room back to temp on your return. There is a small refrigerator that stays on, plus an electric teakettle and green teabags in the room. On the first floor is a wonderful onsen, free to guests and accessible to the public with ticket purchase. There are separate onsens for women and men, with only a few hours the onsen is unavailable. Breakfast is available in the attached restaurant, but must be paid for separately; you can let them know at check-in. The fee for breakfast is very reasonable for the quality. This is an exellent hotel which i highly recommend, food is very good, room is very nice and clinically clean, equipped with tv, mini bar, kettle to make your green tea offered in the room. The staff is very welcoming and price very attractive exellent value for money....

近所に住んでいるので良く立寄り湯を利用させて頂いてます。 ただ仕事等の関係上21時をすぎる事があり、3度ほどまだ入れるでしょうか？何時までやってるでしょうか？と電話と受付で確認したところ22時までに御退出して頂けるなら大丈夫ですよ。と快く承諾してくれていましたが、今日行くと眼鏡をかけた御年配の方が受付をしていまして、21時半頃チケットを買い受付の方に渡すと21時を過ぎたら入浴できませんよと言われました。前回来た時は22時まででしたら大丈夫ですと言ってもらいましたが、ダメなのですか？と聞くと、21時までに入ってもらわないとダメです。と言われ、忘れていたかのように今日の温泉営業は終了しましたという札を私の目の前で券売機の方に吊るしていました。わかりました、じゃあ今日はもう大丈夫ですと言うと、いや入っていいですよ、今日だけはと言われ、いや時間外なら大丈夫です。ともう一度伝えると、今日はもういいので、はい、入ってくださいと言われました。私の後にも明らかに宿泊客ではなさそうな2人組の学生が入って来ましたが、何事もなく入っていました。出た後も、いつもなら、ありがとうございました。と受付の方が言ってくれるのですが、視界に写ってないような態度を取られすごく残念な気持ちになりました。これからは21時までには入浴するようにしますが、券売機の方に札をかけるなら21時までにかけるようにした方が勘違いが起きないと思います。他の受付の方、温泉は凄く良かっ...
