Staying at this ryokan was an unforgettable experience. With only three rooms, it felt incredibly private and intimate. From the moment we arrived, the staff took care of everything, carrying our suitcases and leading us to our room.
Upon entering, we stepped through a serene garden area before reaching the dining space, toilet, powder room, shower and our private onsen. The onsen was a highlight—double windows opened to our garden, allowing us to soak in the hot water while feeling the refreshing breeze. It was pure bliss.
The attention to detail in this hotel is remarkable. The amenities were luxurious and thoughtfully curated—even small items like the mini hairbrush were useful for future travels. The toilet had so many features it was almost an experience of its own!
Upstairs, the sitting room and bedroom were cozy and well-equipped. The fridge was stocked with a variety of complimentary drinks, and the tea and coffee selection was excellent. Every kitchenware item was high quality - the cups, the chopstick holder, the bowls, the plates, the forks.
We opted for the dinner at an additional charge, which consisted of 10 beautifully prepared dishes. Dinner is served at either 6:00 or 6:30 PM only. Breakfast was another highlight which is served at 8 or 8:30 AM only —a large spread of different foods, including cooked fish, which was new for me but surprisingly tasty.
Oshino is about a 25-minute walk, the local shrine (a peaceful spot by a lovely lake) is around 20 minutes away, and a 7-Eleven is just a 10-minute walk.
I highly recommend this ryokan for anyone looking for a unique, luxurious, and culturally immersive stay. Everything was well thought out, and the combination of comfort, hospitality, and scenery made it an incredible experience.

Read moreWe like to thank and applaude the staffs and chef that took good care of us during our stay at Hakai Konohanakan. The services and amenities provided were top notch and the staffs were very thoughtful in making sure that we were well taken care of.Not to mention, the omakase is of really good quality and variety. Every day was a new experience with new dishes! Really well done on the chef and staffs part.Although the location maybe abit secluded, we like to appluade the staff effort in offering to arrange a taxi for us to take us to a location. As the bus services here may be a little unreliable, if your itinerary is packed with 3 to 4 places for the day, we recommand to book a chartered services for at least a day so you can go around freely from one end to the other. We were lucky to have a staff that speaks Mandarin but nevertheless, even if the staff can't speak Mandarin or understands English, they take an effort to explain and understand you through translation apps. All in all, we have no regrets in booking and staying here. Would highly recommend to stay here if your itinerary revolves around lake Yamanaka as it is only a 10 minute drive away! Not to mention a step outside and you can...
Read moreOverall, the butler service is exceptional. She is diligent and friendly, contributing significantly to our experience. The space is new, clean, and tidy, creating a welcoming atmosphere. Both dinner and breakfast are superb, with an impressive menu that showcases high-quality ingredients and beautiful presentation. However, I would appreciate it if the check-in and check-out schedules allowed for more flexibility. We had to start dinner early, with our 6:30 PM reservation being the last available slot. Additionally, we left almost immediately after finishing breakfast at 10 AM, which did not provide a relaxing experience.I also noticed that the back office is connected to the Snow Room, and while the butler kindly knocked before entering, there is no way for guests to lock the door from the inside. This could raise privacy concerns for some guests. I believe this is a facilities issue, perhaps a teething problem for such a new premises, that management should address to enhance the overall...
