Deguchi-ike Pond — Attraction in Oshino

Deguchi-ike Pond is the most secluded and least visited of the Oshino Hakkai ponds, mainly because it’s quite far from the main cluster. The area is quiet and calm, surrounded by more natural scenery, and has a peaceful, untouched feel.

It’s not as pretty or well-decorated as the others, so if you’re chasing Instagram photos, you can probably skip this one. But if you’re someone who appreciates raw nature and stillness, it’s a nice spot to enjoy away from the crowds.

Just take note, the road in is narrow, parking is limited, and there’s a small fee...

I like this pond best. Make sure you visit this place, even thought it is a bit far and need a bit of walk. You will go through a small village and there are a few vegi stores on side of the road. No one look after them, just pick up a bag of cucumber and drop your money. There's a little shrine above the pond, very quiet and mysterious. I saw a weird shaped stone on the ground, glanced twice and was sure it was just a stone. However, when approaching, all of a sudden, it moved and walked away- it was actually a cat. Interesting...

Beautiful small village but very crowded on weekdays and weekends. No ticket required to roam around the village. Mt fuji is only visible on not so cloudy days !
