IzuKorukaze The Japanese-style — Hotel in Shimoda

Not sure how relevant older reviews are as this place has been renovated very recently. Of course there may be a bit of the old peeking through, but it is now wonderful. Our room has new tatami with a modern design. The bath looks right out on the ocean. Only a tiny road separates it from the beach. Quite a few surfers, but could body surf too. Clear water but some seaweed in some areas. Lovely sand, nice cliff and tide pool formations. About 1500 yen by taxi from station, but they will pick you up if you book it at select times. Some chill shack restaurants/bars on the beach. Only about fifty houses on the beach, some of which are rentals… a giant Tokyu hotel up on the cliff…. Perhaps in summer the beach...
