Ideal location and perfect Japanese hospitality for Day 5 of Kumano Kodo walk as this lovely little guesthouse is right near the start of Day 5. One of very few accommodation options here so book early if you can, on the Kumano Travel website. We arrived soaking wet, Hide-san greeted us so warmly and promptly got to washing our clothes and drying our boots. We felt so at home and knew we had met someone special - with a lovely meal, everything thought of and breakfast before heading off to Nachi. Such a memorable experience, book here if you can!

Hide-San was a perfect host. He was very welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed. His house was gorgeous and the chamber was very clean and very comfortable. His cooking was also outstanding! The guesthouse is located right next to the Kumano Kodo, making it an ideal place to stay while on the trail. Thank you very much Hide-San, I wish we could have stayed longer at your beautiful home!

I stayed here for one night while walking the Kumano Kodo in April. Hide-San was very friendly and a great host and dinner was very tasty and well presented. The rooms were very traditional, which was a great experience for a foreigner. The guesthouse was also located very close to the start of the trail the next morning. Highly recommended.

This ryokan is small with only 2 guest suites. However, the suites were large with a sitting area and a sleeping area. There were comfortable, soft reclining seats in the tea area which had treats and hot tea on our arrival. Off the sleeping area was a small alcove to hang up wet items overnight and our hosts took care of our wet rain gear when we first arrived.||The toilet is shared and there is a single private bath.||The bedding is very nice and comfortable. The house clothes were pants and a top and were very comfortable as well.||Our hosts offered to do our laundry if we needed it.||Mr. Nakazawa was a cook before he retired. The meals were served at a single table for four (family style) and were the best meals that we had on the Kumano Kodo. The shared seating allowed for interesting conversation with the other house guests.||We would definitely recommend this Ryokan and if you like fishing, the owner is an...

We stayed here during our Kumano Kodo walked and so pleased we did. Koguchi village is small and there doesn't seem to be many other accommodation options. We saw many hikers waiting for a bus to take them back to Hongu so we were thrilled we had accommodation at this lovely little minshuku for the evening. ||||It was clean and tidy, the owner Hide was great and very friendly and hospitable. We were lucky to have a double room which certainly gave us plenty of room to spread out and relax. ||||The food was delicious also. ||||We somehow managed to get ourselves a little lost the next morning and Hide drove to find us and direct us back on to the trail. So kind and helpful. ||||A lovely place to stay in a small, isolated...
