This ryokan is small with only 2 guest suites.However, the suites were large with a sitting area and a sleeping area. There were comfortable, soft reclining seats in the tea area which had treats and hot tea on our arrival. Off the sleeping area was a small alcove to hang up wet items overnight and our hosts took care of our wet rain gear when we first arrived.||The toilet is shared and there is a single private bath.||The bedding is very nice and comfortable. The house clothes were pants and a top and were very comfortable as well.||Our hosts offered to do our laundry if we needed it.||Mr. Nakazawa was a cook before he retired. The meals were served at a single table for four (family style) and were the best meals that we had on the Kumano Kodo. Read moreWe stayed here during our Kumano Kodo walked and so pleased we did. Koguchi village is small and there doesn't seem to be many other accommodation options. We saw many hikers waiting for a bus to take them back to Hongu so we were thrilled we had accommodation at this lovely little minshuku for the evening. ||||It was clean and tidy, the owner Hide was great and very friendly and hospitable. We were lucky to have a double room which certainly gave us plenty of room to spread out and relax. ||||The food was delicious also. ||||We somehow managed to get ourselves a little lost the next morning and Hide drove to find us and direct us back on to the trail.
