Takeo Onsen has a cluster of three onsen in close proximity, Saginoyu, Houraiyu and Motoyu. It also offers family baths like Karouyu and Hananoyu. The onsen is housed in the compounds of Shinkan Building and Romon Tower Gate which are designated as National Important Cultural Property. One of the best onsens I have ever been to. I picked Saginoyu as it had a sauna and an outdoor bath, I am so happy I did! The sauna was great and the cold bath right next to it was much colder compared to all the other onsens I have been to, which made me very happy. It’s not the biggest onsen but it blew my mind how soft and silky the water was. I’m glad I stopped over in Takeo just for this hot spring. It was small compare to other onsens we've been to but it is the experience that counts. Visiting the history of 1300+ years was very appealing to us.
