The husband and wife team running this property is amazing. Their breakfast was prepared and served with pride, and attention to detail. I love the little touches in their tea room. A piano, shelves of books and interesting paraphernalia all contribute to a wonderful homey British countryside vibe. The vast space outside the property includes a hammock and an observatory. The owner is happy to bring you to explore the stars at 8pm there. Our teens had great fun there.||We are an entourage of 7 including an elderly who ocassionally uses the wheelchair. We didnt find it hard to get around the property. We love the space of the bedrooms and the privacy of this whole compound. ||Also love the private onsen where you had to walk just 2 min out(still within the compounds) and you have the whole place to yourself for 50 minutes i think? It was basic but comforting. Just the thing to unwind to after a long day driving around. Booking required.||Please note the dinner has to be booked 2 days in advance. We forgot about it and regretted since the breakfast was so yummy. Carefully curated and lovingly prepared. Prefer this to...
Read moreThis was a great stay with a local family that runs an inn in the hills outside Taketa. The innkeeper is a friendly older gentleman who can speak some English, but mainly communicates using his online translation app. He is very interested in getting to know the people who stay at his place and initiates conversation to learn more about you. In this way, he is culturally different than many other Japanese people, who are more reserved. Our main purpose for coming to the area was to see Drum Tao, and their location is a 30-minute walk from the inn. We didn't have a car during our trip and took a taxi from Bungo-Taketa, but the innkeeper was willing to drive us to Tao and also to a restaurant a short ways down the road. The innkeeper has also built an observatory on the property and if it is a clear night, he'll invite guests to come and look through his very impressive telescope. On the night we were there, we were able to see the moon, Mars, Jupier, several stars, and the Orion Nebula through the telescope. Not something you get at a...
Read moreAmazing Experience We chose the place because it was located 2 mins from Kuju Flower Park. At first, we did not expect much, but this was beyond our expectations. The surrounding was really quiet and peaceful. Great views with green forest outside our room was nice. The owners were so welcoming, friendly, attentive and so warmth. We requested dinners ahead upon our stay (need to arrive before 18:00, when the dinner starts). My mom could not eat beef, so I requested pork instead, which they replaced with seafoods. The private onsen gave a perfect touch before ending the night. Totally recommend...
