Asobi Hack — Hotel in Taketomi

Didn’t know they have glamping at all in this island and so glad I found this place after scrolling through Google reviews. Originally I was a bit nervous with all the insects and bugs that usually make me just want to stay in hotel but this place is very clean.

Is there bugs and mosquitoes at the site - yes there is but it’s manageable. The shower facilities have strong water pressure. The bathroom is very clean considering it’s being used by all tents tenants.

The only thing is the bathroom only has 1 male and 1 women which could be problematic with more guests. Also the walk at night to the bathroom could be far depending on which tent you are on so I try to limit water at night.

Otherwise, the sink outside the tent is useful for all stuffs and cooking which I didn’t as I was only staying 1 night. Had I know how great this place, I will go for 2 night stay instead of one.

Location is walkable from the port even and it has good laundry facilities as well. Need to tell all my friends about it so...

We stayed here for 2 nights. Everything on the first night was almost perfect. There are 2 other tents occupied so we felt safe with other guests. There was also a camp fire. The lounge area was comfortable and open for 24 hours.

However, on the second night, when we returned to the tent from other restaurants, we found we were the only guests left and all the staffs were off as usual. It was kind of scary. The air conditioning in the lounge area was also automatically off at 10:30. Some lights in the toilet area were also turned off, even the music was turned off unlike the first night. We felt a bit scared and found we were left behind. If the owner can provide other methods to contact if there are emergency, that will be better.

Other than that, the camp was gorgeous, we loved the vibe. The facilities are clean, the laundry...

Not easy to get to, but SO worth the journey!!! Very glad we made it; such a wonderful way to decompress after visiting many Japanese cities.This was rural, very comfortable and the proprietor couldn't have been more generous and helpful. Breakfast was excellent after a very comfortable night in a spacious yurt. Sitting around the fire pit in the evening after a wonderful meal at a restaurant in town, to which our host actually drove us, was a highlight.
