Came here to spend a relaxing weekend for my birthday and got frustrated on the first 15 minutes in, for three major reasons:
I was looking forward for the pool and onsen. Since it is Japan, I've searched in the hotel website to find any information regarding tattoos prohibitions and there wasn't anything about it. For my unlucky surprise, after the check in I discovered that tattoos aren't allowed. Sadly it was too late to request reimbursement and find another place to stay.
There were crumbs, hair and really old dirty in the room.
The condition of it in general. I don't mind staying in older places and as someone from the hotel industry myself I know how expensive renovations can be. Read moreHotel Harvest Nankitanabe is really located in the middle of nowhere in Wakayama, and even walking to the nearest convenience store requires a 30-minute stroll out of the hotel compounds, down the path to cross the road, then back on the path on the opposite side. (But fret not, there is a vending machine at the basement of the hotel).||||The hotel is amazingly beautiful, both from afar and within the compounds. The setting sun makes for a good backdrop, as the towering structure of the hotel stands out, literally.||||The room is big and comfortable, and has ample space for your luggage. The door to the balcony does not open though, but the view is pretty nice.||||Within the hotel lies a hot spring, segregated by gender, where you can relax after a meal. Like all Japanese onsens, no clothes are allowed, and you will have soap and cleanse yourself before entering the springs. It is quite a simple layout, with an indoor onsen and an outdoor onsen. I personally prefer the one outdoors.||||Would love to come back to this hotel...
