The public bath was good even though there were stains and some parts are not well maintained/cleaned. The free drinks at the front is also good. The location is also good with enough parking lots.
The price was below 20,000¥ per night including breakfast and dinner on weekend for business single room type.
Overall I was really disappointed by the service as it was something you can get from business hotel or gigantic hotel chains even though it should have been something warmer and better from the staffs who operate and manage only 6 rooms. I expected it to be more personal and flexible.
In terms of the hardware, there are many things which I did not like. the bed is single size (of course it was clearly written so) and small. the tv is very small and old styled the A/C has stains which seem to be moldy stains on the walls the toilet is business hotel type with huge step the noise of steps of other guests from the corridor is very big and you will need to hear all of them during the day when someone walks outside the room. If you expect or want a fancy room or cozy atmosphere, this room or hotel might not be the best for you. In terms of room types, I am sure they have better Japanese style rooms.
The breakfast and dinner, I will not choose to include them if I stay next time. The level and the quality is just Ok but nothing more than expected. I really believe that they should make it more simple and more efficient. For example, tofu for breakfast, no need to let guests to boil it and eat. Same for dinner, shabu shabu with that volume and quality should be served or be prepared by hosts rather than guests making it from...
Read moreI wasn't expecting much but my stay was superb. I didn't really know where to stay after Oirase Gorge and I chose here because of the yakitori photos. The inn is small, only ten rooms with six currently used. The room is tatami and futon, more of an older style ryokan-type room. I opened the window at night for the cool air and the street is quiet. It also helped to not hear voices from other rooms. Dinner quantity was very large. I was afraid breakfast would be too big but it was ok cause they were small bites and sauces. Both meals used local items. The onsen switches who gets to use rotenburo morning or night. It was rainy when I arrived so it was great to be so close to Oirase gorge so I could go back again the next day with sunny skies. This was a fun place to stay, excellent food, quaint lodging and very friendly and...
Read moreWe stayed here during Christmas which doesn’t seem like a busy time of year for Lake Towada. We had the onsen and dining area to ourselves which made it feel really private cozy in front off the fireplace. The dinner was amazing. Hors d'oeuvres and vegetable fondue to start, yakitori, Shabushabu, egg congee made with the remaining stock, tea and almond custard for dessert. The whole meal let the ingredients speak for themselves and centers on the local chicken breed which I need eat more of before we leave Aomori. Homey and fresh. Chicken breast has no business being that...
