Yukaina Nakamatachi — Hotel in Yakushima

Fine hostel close to all of the restaurants and shops in Anbo. Check-in time is only till 18:00, so be aware. The lady who's doing the cleaning and takes care of the payments is to find in the shop below, same entrance as the Moss burger. The place is clean and tidy, but the showers do not have any privacy. There is no place to hang your towels (bring your own) and keep your stuff during showering. Nevertheless you find a solution. There is a washing machine and dryer available for only ¥100 each which is comfortable to use. The kitchen is provided with a fridge and freezer, kettle and microwave. What I miss are some plates, cups and cutlery. Nothing there! The beds are quite comfortable so that is welcome too. You get a key, which you can leave behind next to your bed when check out. There is a parking lot in front of the vicinity. The entrance is above the mos burger, so go up the stairs...

Convenient location in Anbo, right next to bus stop, which also means a shorter bus ride to Yakusugi Land. A few decent restaurants in town; 10-minute walk to supermarket and tourist information center. Modern showers. Dorms are separated by walls and bunk beds have curtains for privacy. We were only 3 guests on the busiest night I was there, which meant the place was very quiet. Very clean place.||||Only kitchen facility are a tiny fridge and a microwave. Smell of drain in toilets. Walls separating the dorms don't go all the way up to the ceiling, which means you can hear absolutely everything going around in the entire place (could be a problem on a crowded night).||||No English spoken, but that...

Great location - barely 100 meters from the Anbo bus stop. The beds are comfortable. Hot showers ( high pressure ) are a relief after a long day. And the staff were really kind and helpful - they help order a bento to take along on your trek as well. There were a lot of guides to Yakushima as well as transit information in the common area which turned out quite helpful. I only wish they had more storage place for the luggage - things can get quite cramped if you have multiple people in the room with a big bag each. That said, I'd definitely recommend Yukai na Nakamatachi to everyone visiting yakushima...
