Hiro Bakery — Restaurant in Yakushima

We loved this place and visited several times during our short stay on Yakushima! This bakery served an array of freshly baked breads, sandwiches, and pastries. We liked everything we tried, and the walnut honey bread was a highlight.

I’d definitely recommend coming here earlier in the day for the best selection. When we came in the afternoon, most of the shelves were picked clean.

My only suggestion would be to add more seating around the bakery, in addition to the two small benches outside.

Before going to Yakushima, I have checked through all the bakery and sweets shops which we can hit to take away some and hit some of the beaches to eat and chill.

Visited this place twice, because the first time we went there, most breads were sold out so we only managed to buy a slice of cheese cake. I think their breads are better than cakes.

Good pit stop to get some nice breads at good prices but I would definitely prefer the old school bakery like Heikai bakery (you can see from my other post), the old school breads definitely hands...

A local bakery that sells delicious pastries, cookies, breads and more. Everything is freshly made on site. I only tried the chocolate croissant and almond cookies. The croissant was probably one of the best I had, ever. It was buttery, flaky and crispy on the outside, but still have some give once you bite down to the center.
