Tengendaikogen Ski Area — Hotel in Yonezawa

I visited Tengendai Ski Area in early March, 2023. Despite the unusually warm weather for the time of year (15 degrees Celsius in Yonezawa city), we were still able to enjoy a moderate cover of powder snow up at Tengendai. Truly powder paradise! We also had the place mostly to ourselves on a Tuesday. Facilities are simple with three lifts and two restaurants, but the slopes are wide and have enough variation to enjoy a full day of skiing. The ski area is also very easy to access on the ropeway and ski pass + rentals can be purchased easily and quickly without reservation. Staff are also very friendly - the staff in the restaurant left us a welcome note with our food, and one of the ski instructors ended up personally driving us back to Yonezawa station (40min) at the end of the day!...

Famous for its 100％ powder snow in the winter. The ski season can last until the end of April, possibly start of May. Lots of Yonezawa locals use this resort so it feels friendly. A very good and well established ski school with friendly teachers. If you get a Level 1 SAJ grading, your name can go on a board at the bottom...

吾妻連峰最高峰の西吾妻山に北へスッと一直線に斜面を伸ばしているスキー場です。意外にも山形県と福島県の南側の県境で北斜面を有しているのはこの天元台スキー場くらいです。米沢市内からアクセスしやすいながらも、北に行けば蔵王温泉スキー場があるためややローカルな印象を受けます。 麓からロープウェイで登り、リフトが縦に3つというシンプルな構成で、コースもリフトに沿うように縦長になっています。グループでも滑っていてもはぐれにくく、またはぐれてもすぐ合流することができるでしょう。 標高は1800mほどと特段高い位置にあるスキー場ではありませんが、内陸であるため気温が低いことと、今季積雪750cmを超えたように国内スキー場で屈指の降雪量が魅力的です。ハイシーズンに降雪日に訪れればセンター100mm以下のスキー板では埋まりに行くようなものでしょう。しっかりとした装備とパウダーランの技術を携えて臨むべきです。運が良ければダイヤモンドダストも見ることができるかもしれません。 雪山登山でも有名な場所なので登山家も多く訪れます。彼らがリフトを乗降車する際は低速運転になることを留意しましょう。登山グループと遭遇するとリフトは断続的に通常→低速→通常→低速という波状運転になります。酔い易い...
