We are members of Durrell, and visit a couple of times roughly twice a year. Then not so long back, an email invite to stay with a discount at the Durrell Wildlife park landed in my inbox. It took very little thinking about.||This would normally feel like an expensive proposition, and almost at a parr with our favourite hotel, which is round the corner, so without the members discount, we might not have take the opportunity.||We are so glad we did though! We loved having a new a very different way to experience Jersey zoo.||The camp is separate from the zoo itself, but the pods are clean and cosy (once we got the fire going!). ||If you are from Jersey, then bringing supplies with you will be easy, but if you are from further afield, and travelling by bus, then you will need to think ahead what you need. The site is relatively isolated, and shops are not near by, especially if you don't have a hire car.||We did bring things with us to eat and coffee stuff, but I think it would have been good if they had left at least coffee making ingredients.||No matter. The tent was sturdy. We did get hit by a huge downpour during the early hours, but i have to say, I had perfect confidence in the accommodation keeping us dry. And with the fire was brilliant for for keeping us cosy as we got ready for bed.||We were somewhat cold first thing in the morning, so if you are coming, here's some tips to help.||Make sure you have everything you think you may want when you arrive; coffee, sugar, etc. |Yes, you can get food parcels from a local farm store, but you may prefer to get supplies from a supermarket. We got supplies in from st helier.|Take a torch, you will need it.|Be prepared to be colder than you expect. You are camping after all.||Did we enjoy it? Oh gosh yes Would I do this again, definitrly yes. Not immediately, but it will be on our radar.||We loved the whole different experience we got of Jersey zoo.||And if you are dropped off by taxi, the camp entrance is next to the Durrell Charity shop.||But out favourite part, by far, was listening to the calls of animals as they bedded down and as did we, and when we all got up at daybreak. Just a shame we had inclement weather, but it did not spoil a...

I had never been glamping before and this holiday was mainly for my daughter and two grandsons. The pod was spacious and clean, with a normal double bed and two single camping mattresses made up either side; there was a well-equipped kitchen pod with everything we could need except possibly a microwave. The shower pod was also spacious, in the form of a wet room, and the shower itself was excellent with plenty of hot water. Due to our flight time, we arrived at about 10 am, but Adam had anticipated this and our pod was ready for us, rather than wait till 3pm. He was most helpful, very friendly and very well-informed about the zoo animals and the island. We were very unlucky with the weather as it rained and was very windy for most of the 4 days, and this is where I struggled; nowhere to dry towels or damp clothing, and very cold in the evening. But we had followed the advice to take warm clothing, and the woodburner was so welcome. I can imagine how wonderful it would all be in fine weather! The zoo itself is lovely, easy to navigate, and set among fabulous trees and flowers, with beautiful buildings dotted around. The cafe, where we had breakfast twice and the occasional coffee, I thought was very expensive, but trips into St Helier supermarkets showed that food in general is a lot more expensive in Jersey. A bus leaves the zoo every half hour and is a half hour journey through very beautiful countryside. Everyone we met was very friendly. We really enjoyed it, especially the boys, and it was just bad luck that the weather...

Visited Durrell Wildlife Camp in August. We absolutely loved the experience. We were greeted by Adam who could not have been more friendly and helpful. We were given a tour of the campsite with lots of information about the zoo and the animals we could potentially see and hear.|The tents are very well equipped, each in fairly private areas, surrounded by fruit trees. |They are very spacious inside, with a comfortable bed and wood burning stove for the chillier nights. |The kitchen area was well equipped with everything we needed and there is a communal barbecue available to use which we made use of on 2 nights. The local pub, the Trinity Arms is approx 20 mins walk away where we ate 1 night.|There is unlimited access to the zoo which is fantastic, and in a beautiful setting.|All in all , it was a really unique and very relaxing experience and I would return...

Ok first off this is a great sanctuary with well looked after animals and knowledgable keepers . BUT !!!!! If you are visiting with a wheelchair then take note …. Most of the site is bumpy gravel/mud tracks which we struggled with ,especially when we hit tree roots that had broken through the pathway , some of the accessible ramps are like something Eddie the eagle would have second thoughts about attempting so please bare in mind this before visiting .

Not as crowded as most mainland zoos but plenty of edangered spiecies to see and imformation on their current numbers. Excellent bus service from St. Helier at £2.00 each way. The shop has a wide range of gifts at reasonable prices but cannot comment on restaurant as we did not eat there but has pleasant picnic area set in beatiful gardens. The price of entry was cheaper than most similar parks about £37.00 for 2 adults including glossy guide book.

What a wonderful place. The conservation programme is inspirational and it's lovely to see the animals thriving and preventing extinction in some species. There is a part of it that tells the story of Gerald Durrell which is very interesting. We spent a peaceful afternoon wandering round various enclosures. There is a very good cafeteria, the staff are pleasant. All in all a lovely experience.
