IMPORTANT: This guesthouse is also known as MAGNIFICENT VIEW on booking.com||Summary of issues:|1. The building is UNFINISHED with DANGEROUS stairwells. There is NO ROOF.|2. Rooms are COLD and NOISY.|The owner makes his money from REHEATING FOOD (CHICKEN) IN A MICROWAVE and serving this to guests for 10 JOD.|3. If you attempt make a legitimate complaint, the owner he will become RUDE and ANGRY. He will then inform booking.com that you did not show up so you can't leave a negative review.||More details:|We booked the so-called "magnificent view" guesthouse on Booking.com. Alarm bells started ringing when I realised that it is known by a different name on Google maps.|Prior to arriving, we received the following message from the owner: "You are lucky that we have home cooked meal for the dinner tonight we book for you if you like its traditional jordanian meal." Upon arrival, the owner was very eager to mention this "traditional meal" again, informing us that 15 other people would be eating with us. He claimed that the restaurants in town are "very expensive and not authentic" As the guesthouse is located far from the centre, we accepted and paid 10 JOD each for dinner. When we went down to the reception area (which was cold, empty and uninviting with horrible plastic seating - the other 15 people were nowhere to be seen!), there was a glass of water and juice, a shallow dish of hummus and some pitta. We heard the sound of a microwave "ping" and were then brought out some lukewarm rice and chicken - as the chicken had been reheated in the microwave it was incredibly dry and tough and was entirely inedible. I went to the kitchen to find the server and investigate. There was of course no cooking happening in the kitchen - instead I saw the "dinner" in plastic bags and the microwave at the ready. I politely and diplomatically informed the owner that the meal wasn't good. He claimed I was the only person to ever complain but another family then said they were also complaining because the food was poor! I asked for a 50% refund. However, the owner got very angry and aggressive which made me scared.||2. During the meal a girl approached reception and informed the owner she had a reservation which she had made on booking.com. However, the owner rudely told her the property was "full" and "goodbye." He didn't attempt to help her or to suggest another place nearby despite at this point it being very dark outside.||3. The property itself is on a building site. It is missing a roof so if you are on the top floor it will be very cold. There are gaps in the windows and the bedroom doors which means you can hear everything. Not great if you want a good nights sleep before Petra. I noticed that the "soap" in the bathroom was essentially water (I assume that the owner has simply topped up the bottle with water). This is extremely dangerous during covid times. If he doesn't want to supply soap then he shouldn't pretend that he is supplying soap.||4. If you make any kind of complaint (like we, along with the French family did) then he will inform booking.com that you were a no show or cancel your booking meaning that you can't leave a negative review. When I returned home, I looked at the reviews on Google and saw that there are lots of other people who had their booking "cancelled" by the owner so that they can't leave a review on booking.com.||THE OWNER AND PROPERTY ARE AN ABSOLUTE DISGRACE TO JORDAN AND SHOULD BE DE-LISTED FROM ALL PLATFORMS.||N.B. I expect the owner will respond to this review and call me a "liar" like he has done to others. However, if you choose to stay here you will see who the...
Read morerent a room here for the price. The truth is that the attention is very helpful and friendly. I rented a room with a shared bathroom, but even though there was no one, the bathroom maintenance was simply non-existent, no foot mat, shower was hanging on the window, and nowhere to put clothes, no drainer or anything, I which, because it is shared, I think it should have some minimal comforts, other than that, the place is simple but it serves the purpose. However, the place is easily accessible and for the price there is not much to think about. It would improve the basic services, but the place is worth it. The place is under construction, it must be clarified. 3 days was enough for me in Petra, and we had a great time...
Read moreThe structure was still to be completed as the roof was still missing over the stairwell and the stairs themselves lack safety handrails. From 8 a.m you could hear the noise of the construction works.
The rooms lacked wardrobes and hangers. The quadruple room contained only one bedside table.
The heating is ensured by a heat pump, but during the first night no remote control was traceable in the structure to regulate it, only after an hour was it brought to our room.
No hairdryers are available in the Hotel.
The rooms were never cleaned and made up between...
