We were excited about staying in a 5 star hotel, especially after seeing all of the cool pictures. I can see how this hotel could have deserved the 5 star ranking about 20 years ago. Now, not so much. My grievances (in no particular order)

  1. No wifi in the rooms
  2. Our toilet or shower or something flooded to the point where there was 2 inches of water on the floor. They had to come in to fix it, and then it happened again when I was brushing my teeth.
  3. They don’t give you water at lunch or dinner. When you ask for water, they ask you what size you want (confusing), without telling you what “small” or “large” means. Then they bring you a bottle of water, which they will immediately open and pour for you. What they don’t tell you is that they’re charging you. For water. Sure, I get it, you are in a desert. If that’s the case, tell your patrons what you will be charging them for. As we were leaving, they ran up to us and told us to sign for the bill, which we would be charged for at check out. When checking out, we asked them why they didn’t tell us they would charge us before they gave it to us (we had water in the hotel room we could have brought). They said, “we don’t like to upset the customers.” Um, excuse me? Like we weren’t going to find out eventually anyway?
  4. We were walking around and trying to find the café (the hotel layout is a bit confusing). We walk by one of the shops and ask the man who works there for directions. For context, it’s freezing outside, and we are hungry. The guy working there says, “what will you give me for directions?” We (two women) just look at him, wondering where he’s going with this. He continues, “how about a smile?” ?!?! Dude, I’m trying to get some food. You work there, isn’t it your job to be helpful? You would have gotten a smile if you just gave us directions. Instead you got my dirty look because of your inappropriate behavior.
  5. The younger boys who were working in the café/restaurant thing were great, but their managers (I think) were just so full of themselves. It’s like they were trying to live up to the five stars. They were treating the younger men poorly, and constantly watching over everyone. It was unnerving to have people staring at me while I was trying to eat. It was a vibe I got from basically everyone on the staff I...

The room was nice and clean although the bathroom was a bit dated. The bathroom also flooded when we showered, soaking all of our clothes that were on the floor. The bed was very comfortable. The restaurant was not that good - buffet foods were so-so and at breakfast there was a basket of oranges that looked like they expired months ago sitting out. When we went to check out in the morning (we were getting picked up by a driver) at 8:05, the door to reception was locked. I tried it twice but it wouldn’t open and the metal detector was making a lot of noise (I had to be standing right in it to try the door) so I left the key in the room. Several men then came out of reception around 8:25 and started asking me why we hadn’t come into reception because our driver was waiting for us there. I explained that I tried but the door was locked and they dismissed me and just kept saying that the door wasn’t locked and they were in there the whole time. The door was most definitely locked and if they were in there, they should’ve been able to hear me trying the door as well as the sound of the loud metal detector indicating that someone was out there. I found this insistence that I was wrong about a minor thing very rude and...

It’s a beautiful hotel, very charming looks like old city with alleys and streets there is one shop as well on one of the streets :). Beautiful spacious rooms, we had take connecting family rooms was very spacious. It had 1 kind bed and 2 twins in the second room and 2 bathrooms. Very nicely decorated. Be very careful the small rugs have no non-slip under them and our younger one fell twice. I am not giving a 5 star only because if the Turkish bath experience we had. The masseur is good but the place is very DIRTY. Please take a tour before you try it. The water was not draining in the shower, there was a hand soap in the shower used by others and not sure what there was stagnant water in the place we had to take a shower in a bowl like pit which was so dirty. Although physically it was relaxing the bath place was not hygienic. The kids fell again and also the restrooms doors are less than 6 ft most likely so be very careful when you use the restroom in the night, the older kid hit his head pretty bad in the night. There is a step in the room another thing...

The hotel of all hotels!! Completely different from anywhere I've been before. Middle Eastern traditions and charm throughout the entire complex. I particularly enjoyed the walk to our rooms. It makes you feel as if you were back in Biblical times. Stone walkways and stone walls. Now that I think about it.........stone everything!! The evening meal was absolutely delicious, and they even made accommodations for me with a rather unusual food allergy. The entire complex offers something to see. From the decorative landscape to the mountainous views. Recommended for families for sure!! Like I said, it's an experience like non other!! Heads up - when I went there in 2019, there was a very pleasant native gentleman there offering a very small cup of coffee upon entrance to the main office. PLEASE TAKE IT (even if you don't drink coffee, like me). In this native culture, it is disrespectful to turn down a welcoming gesture. Have Fun, Enjoy, and Bon Appétit!!
