I would not recommend this hotel.
The bed was hard with inadequate bedding. Little to no water pressure in the tap, no hot water in the shower.
But even then, those weren’t the things that bothered me most. It was the service. Terrible customer service. Dude was defensive and didn’t want to hear us out. If the place of rest (the bed) is so uncomfortable and we can’t shower properly, why are we paying anything for your hotel? (Rhetorical question. Dude, pls don’t respond to that).
There was a couple we met at breakfast who got very little sleep. Poor guy was falling asleep at the table. We saw them later in the day chatting with the owner because they wanted a refund so they could go somewhere else. They ended up leaving without a refund. We witnessed this. It happened despite what Dude says.
When I spoke to the owner when we were leaving, I asked him if I could provide some feedback and shared our experience. He was defensive. I told him at that time that it may just be our room, however there is no water pressure in the sink and I recommended that he check it out.
The owner had offered that the fee for the dinner we had the night before would be waived. When we checked out of the hotel he billed us for it, we paid without putting up a fuss.
In the end we left because we needed to get rest after a long day in Petra. Ended up going somewhere where customer service was top priority and didn’t have to deal with bad attitude from front desk. We ended up paying a lot for that one night because Dude didn’t refund our money. He charged us for a night when we didn't stay there and we had to pay for a different hotel (where they cared about their brand and service). Live and learn.
Quick note - after our first night, we asked if we could get a refund for night #2 because we could not stay there another night. The owner said no. And because he said no and we were still paying for the room, we accessed it as we wanted because, well, we paid for it. He was upset that we continued to use a room that we were paying for. Absurd.
North American peeps - Motel 6 is an upgrade (for a point of reference).
Word of advice - if you're doing Petra and plan on walking a lot, stay in a hotel where you'll get a hot shower and adequate bedding. Stay in a place where hotel staff care about your comfort (you are paying...
Read moreMo'meen started off a very good host and we were excited and very positive about the whole thing considering the high praise. The room itself was nice and clean, had lots of facilities including an IPTV box which was pretty cool. AC system was new and worked very well. The view of the city of Petra is also really nice, especially from the dining room.
However things went sour fast that night when after driving all day and swimming at the Dead Sea we wanted to shower. Low pressure and cold water. After talking to the owner, he pressed some buttons in the lobby and said he fixed the problem and now it should work. It didn't. Then he said we need to run the water for 5 minutes to get it hot. We got warm water at best but mostly cold. One shower was really hot though! The problem is that he knows he has a hot water problem. But he refuses to acknowledge it. Why? Just own it. Fix the problem. Advice is to not stay at room 202 because apparently it's too far from the hot water.
Also we booked the 5JOD lunch for Petra. One of the sandwiches was just a bun with a cheese packet inside. Lol. Picture is attached. The other sandwich was a normal one with balony.
Furthermore, there was no housekeeping, it would have been nice to come home to a cleaned up room.
The issues could be dealt with and resolved with apologies and refunds but what really wasn't good was his attitude towards us. We stayed at many hotels and didn't encounter...
Read moreIt would be a decent stay for half the price. However, at this price, there are better alternatives.
The bed (at least on 206) isn't comfortable. The bedsheet does not cover the entire mattress, so you end up sleeping on the mattress (see the picture). You get two towels for the stay (no bathmats) that aren't replaced unless you ask. There is no room service by default, so the room isn't cleaned during the stay. Our bathroom sink had no water pressure. Our shower never had hot water, but others said after 5-7 minutes, the water heated up, so maybe we didn't wait long enough.
The breakfast was the most basic and the worst we had in Jordan during our 10-night stay.
The owner complained that only two of us ordered dinner because the other two we travelled with weren't hungry. It wasn't a buffet, so why does it matter how much or how little we ordered?
We met two other couples that had similar issues; one of them checked out early as well without getting a refund.
We ended up leaving early to go to a different hotel to get a decent night's sleep even though the owner did not refund us for the night we didn't stay (which is fine. A good night sleep was more important).
Either way, it's not a bad place if it was much cheaper, but I'd temper your expectations. There are better properties around...
