I am staying in this hostel. It is a horrible place. The people working here are so rude. It’s my first day in Kazakhstan and it cannot be worse. The old woman doesn’t speak English and asked me to clean the table after myself after breakfast. I didn’t understand it and she got so rude. They should share their draconian rules in English when the guests arrive. It was hard to find the place because on booking.com the location is wrong. I arrived at 2 am and got a bed with used bed linens. It smelt like somebody used it before me. So, I changed bed. I didn’t use that bed. But they said I should have told them. For that they want to make me pay 3000 tenge. It’s a complete scam. The women working here are saying that that’s the rule of the owner. It was 2 am. So, I was too tired to tell them. Both women working here got really rude because I was complaining about it. I understand that they make pay for the work of changing the linens but 3000 is too much. The woman told me I should not talk to her about it as she is just an employee and she is very tired. Well, certainly the owner needs to have more employees in order to not have overworked and tired employees.
I already paid for this place so I must stay here 2 nights. Horrible place for first timers...
Read moreAmazing hostel. Not much of a backpacker vibe since they also get locals and students, but the breakfast is amazing! Always so cute and thoughtful. Mulberry tree in the yard. Very safe neighborhood. Hot water for tea. Here's the best part: The staff enforces the rules. The only people I've talked to who don't like it are toxic children in adult's bodies who think the concept of a hostel means everyone must accomodate their selfishness and entitlement or get a hotel, not that they should get a hotel if they're entitled and inconsiderate. I had problems with someone fighting me about the rule to turn off all lights in the room after 11:00 and use your phone/flashlight if you need something, and they came and told her to respect people/not act like a toddler. So many hostels refuse to enforce rules and are then destroyed by such emotionally immature tourists, but not this one :) Loved it so much that I've recommended it to everyone, and I have stayed easily over two weeks between...
Read moreI booked this place from 1st July 2025 although I was expected to land in Almaty on 2nd July. On 2nd July, at 5 am I went to the place and the manager told me that someone else has been allotted my booked room. I had previously informed them via mail that I would land on 2nd July although my booking is from 1st july. I was taking a long haul flight and since the check in time was 1 pm I booked it from the previous day so that we could take rest immediately upon landing in Almaty. They alloted me a small room with just two single beds and told me that I can check in only when the previous guest checks out. They didn't apologize at all. I found them quite rude. Later I booked some other property although not before paying 12000 tenge for that small room that we occupied for 3 hours and the...
