TL;DR: Rooms old and dated, no soundproofing, no wifi in the room. Stayed one night. Great location by the lake and well maintained grounds, but that's where the positives end. The room was old and dated, with only one power jack, located far from the bed. No soundproofing and thin walls: you can clearly hear conversations in the rooms nearby. Comfortable bed (with mosquito nets) and pillows. No electric kettle. In the shower, the hot water was barely more than a trickle. In the sink the hot water knob was stuck closed and wouldn't turn; the staff initially claimed that there was nothing wrong with it, then eventually managed to open it. The lodge website clearly states that all rooms have wifi access. Upon check-in, the staff (James) stated that wifi was "a bit weak" in the room. It turned out that the room had no wifi at all. I checked and the wifi signal stopped a few rooms before mine. When I complained, James states that "the baboons destroyed it" (he was well aware there was no wifi in the room after all), but it would be repaired in a few days, which of course didn't do me any good. No wifi extenders were available. Decent meals with reasonable selection. I posted this review on Tripadvisor and two days later it disappeared - did the property pull strings to censor a legitimate review? That...
Read moreWe had booked for an overnight halt at the Lodge during our Kenya / Tanzania holiday in Aug/Sep 2023. The room was good though the good balcony can not be used to sit out due to insects. The premises is really good with swimming pools and we saw many birds. We drove for Ark /Aberdare area after breakfast and drove through beautiful rural set up of Kenya to reach Nakuru Lake. The Lake Nakuru Lodge is beautiful place near the Lake and the Lodge is spread out with a lot of open space with large trees. We reached around lunchtime and on our way we saw some Lions resting on Acacia trees near the road. On our way, we saw many animals, specifically, zebras and giraffes, while driving to the lodge. After checking in we went for lunch. The lunch was elaborate with good options. After lunch, we drove for the Game drive and went on searching for Rhinoes. We could not see many flamingoes for which the Lake is famous. Birds in the lake were few. We could see some 5-6 Rhinoes from a distance. But we could see a pride of Lions sleeping on Acacia tree. We came back in the evening and had a good time in the Lodge roaming around in the garden. The dinner was good and so also breakfast. We left the hotel after breakfast as we have to drive to Masai Mara area for...
Read moreWe really can't say enough good about our stay here. The location is superb, the food is excellent, the animals are amazing, and--most of all--the staff is top-notch. Every morning and evening we saw tons of animals from the dining area and from our room, including: rhinos, giraffes, water buffalos, lions, zebras, warthogs, baboons, and over 40 kinds of amazing birds. We have a small child and all of the staff were very accomodating and kind to him. During our stay, my wife had her birthday and the management gave us complimentary horse rides and even baked a cake for her! Martha, Johnnie, Happy, Methenge, and so many others were extremely helpful and flexible when it came to meeting our various needs and desires. We highly recommend that you stay here!
ONE NOTE: We were surprised to learn that the park fees must be paid every 24 hours if you are staying at this lodge (even if you don't leave the lodge for an activity or safari). With the recent increase in fees, this may add up to a substantial amount if you are not from Kenya. You should certainly take this into...
