Serene Escapes and Wildlife Wonders - Sopa Lodge Lake Nakuru - Aug 2023
Our stay at Sopa Lodge Lake Nakuru left me captivated by the stunning surroundings, abundant wildlife, and warm hospitality. From the moment I arrived, the lodge's friendly staff ensured that my experience was both comfortable and memorable.
The lodge's location overlooking the beautiful Lake Nakuru provided a breathtaking backdrop for my stay. Witnessing the sunrise over the hills of the lake was a sight to behold. The proximity to Lake Nakuru National Park allowed for easy access to wildlife encounters, adding an element of excitement to the stay.
The dining experience at Sopa Lodge was a highlight in itself. The good food and decent buffet spread offered a variety of options that catered to different tastes. Whether I was enjoying a leisurely breakfast or a satisfying dinner, the quality of the meals never disappointed me.
The unique layout of the property, linearly constructed along the hillside, was something to note. While it allowed for incredible views, it's worth considering requesting a room closer to the reception and restaurant if you prefer convenience. The spread-out nature of the rooms might require a bit of walking, which could be a concern for some guests, especially those with mobility challenges.
The lodge's pool, while offering a picturesque view of the lake, was not heated. It provided a refreshing respite after a day of exploring the area, but the chilly water might deter those seeking a warm swim.
One of the unforgettable moments was the opportunity to spot a southern white rhino right at the foothill of the property. This unexpected encounter with such a majestic creature was a testament to the lodge's proximity to the wildlife that Lake Nakuru is famous for.
In conclusion, Sopa Lodge Lake Nakuru offers a serene escape into the heart of nature, complemented by friendly staff and a picturesque setting. The views of Lake Nakuru and its wildlife are nothing short of remarkable, and the opportunity to witness a sunrise over the lake is truly a gift. While the property's layout might require some consideration, the overall experience of being close to nature and surrounded by beauty is well worth it. Read moreLake Nakuru Sopa Lodge is a fantastic place to stay if you're visiting Lake Nakuru.
It is ethereal from the standpoint of being located inside a wild jungle. The location is at a high elevation within the natural park which gives you the pleasure of enjoying excellent views.
The rooms (I should call them chalets) are quite welcoming with generous space to move around. The same is the case with the washrooms which, quite possibly, were the biggest ones I had ever seen in any hotel or resort during my lifetime. The rooms are well-lit and properly fitted with all kinds of necessary items and accessories.
My most favorite place was the open balcony outside which gave a stupendous views of the park around. Though I had only one night to stay, I made sure to spend time outside on the balcony while enjoying the drizzling rain and smells of nature.
The chalets are a 100m walk from the main reception area. The staff at the reception is extremely friendly & welcoming. They are quite receptive to your feedback & take immediate action based on it.
All rooms are provided with umbrellas in case you don't want to get soaked in the rain which is a common feature there.
Near the lobby, there is a nice little gifts / souvenir shop which offers a large variety of items. The prices are quite reasonable compared to the souvenir stores (near Masai Mara triangle) and you can pay through cash or plastic.
The food is another highlight of the place as they provide a very good variety of different kinds of food. BBQ, Italian, Indian etc. are all options that you can enjoy. Additionally, the tea & coffee is on the house so you can enjoy to your heart's desire.
Definitely Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge is a MUST VISIT and I highly recommend it to anyone
Only regret is that we could have stayed more!...
Read moreThe lodge is located on a cliff/hill top with amazing views of Lake Nakuru. I doubt any other lodge in the park has such views. And you can enjoy it from almost the whole lodge i.e. from your room, pool area & best from the restaurant as you enjoy your meals. They are located approx 20kms from the Nderit Gate. I would recommend to improve on the signage at different sections of the road leading to the resort to ensure everyone especially first timers don't get lost and wander off inside the national park. The rooms have nice paths leading to them but can be distant for children or elderly guests especially during rainy season when we went. Kindly consider increasing the carts that can be used to ferry guests to & fro. Also consider having an early meal time for kids with more kid friendly menus. This will make them enjoy more & give parents like us time to enjoy our meals as they can go play after eating. A small kids play area can be a huge plus. Other than that, majority of the staff starting with the GM are super friendly & so welcoming. We also enjoyed the live band during dinner. With an experienced driver/guide, the game drives are really cool.... We saw alot of animals including Rothschild Giraffe, Tree climbing Lions, Rhinos, flamingos, Pelicans & so much more! We really enjoyed & would recommend to visit this park &...
