Milimani Beach Resort Dunga Kisumu City — Hotel in City of Kisumu

The pro's. The hotel is nicely situated overlooking Lake Victoria. The rooms and balcony are spacious and well thought out with outlets and lights in the right places. It seems as if most of the rooms have excellent views of the lake. The staff were generally helpful and accommodating.||||The con's. Overall, the place looks a little tired. A fresh coat of paint would do wonders for the rooms and restaurant. The staff while polite were poor at returning communications. They did not answer the phone or return emails promptly. We had to call several times during business hours to reach anyone. A WhatsApp account would be very helpful. Perhaps the biggest negative was the price and quality of the food. I was told there was a breakfast for 1000 or 2000 ksh. I can't imagine what you would get for 2000. A 2nd cup of instant coffee? A breakfast at Java House for around 1000ksh would be way, way better. Perched on the lake's shoreline Milimani Beach Resort brings the other side of Kisumu. With just four traditionally thatched cottages that comes with comfortable amenities and the sweeping views across the lake this resort is a game changer. ||||The mini restaurant and the main restaurant are all on the shoreline as you enjoy the breeze that soothes your body form the lakeside heat and humidity. If you are a birds lover a quick birding will reward you with some egrets, the Black Kite, the Hammerkop, some terns, the African Pied Wagtail and without missing the Pied Kingfisher as it plunges to catch a fish here and there.||||This resort would make an excellent day out if you need to escape from the city bustles and just unwind. First of all, the view is the best in Dunga. Then comes the breakfast which is complementary and enormous enough for me to have skipped lunch. Staff are well behaved.

The con was that there was a lot of lizard shit by morning in the terrace and some parts of the room. The staff cleans up everyday so this is also a manageable problem.

I booked Dunga beach resort from booking.com and got booked to Milimani beach resort without my knowing it. I had ticked pvt pool and pick up from the airport. There is no pvt pool here. Pick up and drop was not arranged maybe because staff didn't check.
