Unmet High Expectations at Palm Garden Boutique Hotel
Our experience at Palm Garden Boutique Hotel in Kenya, initially chosen based on positive reviews, unfortunately, did not meet our expectations.
Hotel Issues: Our stay began with a significant inconvenience: our reserved room was unavailable, leading to a night in an alternative room. The expectation for us to change rooms THREE times due to overbooking was a testament to poor management. Additionally, the 'extra bed' was merely a mattress on the floor, awkwardly placed with its foot end under the main bed's table, as shown in the attached photo.
Restaurant Experience: In the restaurant, while the food prepared by the chef was excellent, our experience was diminished by administrative issues. Notably, there were problems with double bookings, and the response from the management was inadequate, not taking ownership and putting the blame on us, the guests. Furthermore, a concerning incident was the presence of a cockroach on our outdoor dining table, which, despite it being an outdoor dining area was a hygiene issue. Throughout these situations, the manager did not acknowledge these shortcomings but rather made excuses, which only added to our frustration. In contrast, the local staff and the chef were the highlights of our stay, displaying great kindness and professionalism, which brought some solace to our otherwise disappointing experience.
In summary, the stay at Palm Garden Boutique Hotel was underwhelming. The manager's reluctance to admit mistakes and tendency to make excuses compounded the issues of poor organization and inadequate hospitality. This experience fell short of the high expectations we had based on the...

Every day, the room was cleaned, and the staff ensured that the resort's facilities were always immaculate.
As a result, the entire menu is wonderful; we particularly like the way the steak was delivered, and the cooking time was ideal (as said, the chef is the best).
Even though the resort is 3 minutes by tuk tuk from the beach, this was not an issue for us. We could easily walk there, but we prefer to use the tuk tuk every time.
The closest beach is the greatest in Watamu, and it is very clean and peaceful. If you want to rest, no one will disturb you.
The owner, Manni was always around and ready for a chat. Throughout dinner, he is constantly there to ensure that everything is in order and that clients are satisfied with the food/service.
I tried their one-hour massage service, and I must say it was wonderful.
If we return to Kenya, we will undoubtedly stay at...
Read moreI had a wonderful stay at Palm Garden Boutique Hotel in Watamu. I booked the cosy apartment and it was the perfect combination of comfort, privacy, and style. The space was beautifully furnished, spotlessly clean, and surrounded by the hotelâs lush tropical gardens that made it feel like a true escape. The staff were warm, attentive, and always ready to help with a smile. What I loved most was the peaceful atmosphere â waking up to birdsong and enjoying my coffee in the garden was unforgettable. With the new Spa & Relax and the lounge bar, Palm Garden offers everything you need for a relaxing holiday. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a charming and eco-friendly...
