Meru Safari Hotel is right in the town's Central Business District (CBD) along a busy highway. It is next to the famous Kamunde hall. (Kamunde was one of the Kenya's independence members of parliament hailing and representing Meru. A man involved in the Cooperative movement then. In his honor, the hall is named after him). The hotel is in a hidden facility that is not very conspicuous. I had previously attended many meeting in this town but had never known this hotel offers accommodation. Their signage and advertising needs an upgrade.||||Many people attend meetings in this hotel, the adjacent Kamunde hall, take meals in their restaurant and thereafter go to seek accommodation elsewhere not knowing the hotel also offers the same. I was in the process of looking for a budget friendly hotel for a one night stay, when friend told me to try the place. I had "noise" fears about the place due to its proximity to the busy highway. I was then informed that, when night falls, the place becomes quiet. Most vehicular and human traffic moves to "Makutano"; an area up the town - Junction of Meru-Maua road.||||True to their saying, the hotel and its vicinity was quiet soon after 11 pm. I enjoyed the nights sleep in one or their standard rooms. The room has nice basic features for a short time traveler. A TV set, bathroom sleepers, towel, instant hot water shower and basic toiletries. A mosquito net is provided as well as bottle of drinking water. A closet to put your clothing and an electrical wall socket for charging mobile gadgets is available. The rooms are clean and comfortable.||||Breakfast is included in your room charge. And they offer a descent breakfast as well as other meals. Meru town and its surroundings is known for its plentiful foodstuffs. This hotel does not disappoint in that respect. ||Next time you are in Meru and are on budget, look for this place. They have friendly...

The Bar. The charges are pocket friendly. However, the assortment of drinks is very limited. It is not lively either and closes at 11p.m. Definitely not the ideal place for a turnup.
The rooms. The rooms are small (cozy), but clean. I was however dissatisfied with the condition of the bathroom. It is important to note that if you select rooms facing the road you wont have a quiet night as the noise/disturbance from the busy highway is a bother.
The premises. The compound has a parking yard for guests, leading to the reception bay. The ground floor has a restaurant adjoined to the bar. The rooms comprise of guest rooms and...
Read moreWorst accomodation in Meru.First of all the receptionist is so unproffessional and you have to push her to work as she is busy gossiping and giggling with a colleague .The push finally gets you half baked service from her with a complete eye roll. The rooms are horribly placed making the place look like a hostel. The rooms on one side are so noisy coz of the road I literally had to leave and look for an alternative place immediately after checking in and taking a shower in their poorly maintained bathroom.I have travelled alot in Kenya and this is the worst experience I...
