We stayed here for one night but I wished we hadn’t:||||-Prices on their website are not correct as upon arrival we had to pay an extra 5% for a bank fee (which we encountered in no other hostel in entire Kenya).||-Shower was leaking the entire night.||-Powersockets in the room did not work.||-Toilet did not flush, with the toilet right next to the bed with no wall in between, only a small glass.||||Although this wasn’t even the biggest problem: we took a driver from the hostel for a daytour together with another group. Before we took off, we agreed on a fixed price for the group as a whole and even shook hands on it. After the day was over we wanted to leave the hostel to go to the Airport for our flight home. All of a sudden we had to pay a whole lot more for the driver from the hostel (2000 shillings on top of the agreed price). As the driver said we were two groups, and therefor had to pay more while just hours before we agreed on the fixed price for the entire party. The manager shut down the gate and would not let us leave before we paid the extra amount on top of the agreed price. She knew we had a plane to catch and misused the situation. If it were not for the fact we had not more time to argue, we would have called the police.||||We stayed in a lot of hostels in and around Nairobi, for the prices the hostel is charging and the quality they are offering, I would go somewhere else. This was our last day in Kenya and an extremely sad ending to our otherwise...
Read moreI was from a road trip to Western Kenya with my friend and on the way back to Nairobi we decided to call up Milimani to confirm availability because we had heard good things from the backpackers on the coast (Diani, Kilifi, Lamu). I spoke to a lovely gentleman called Nathan and he gave me the room rates and confirmed that we could camp if we had our own gear, which we did. He then asks my name and nationality; he quickly informed me that I would not be allowed to stay with them because I was Kenyan and they have had "a lot" of problems with Kenyans in the past hence the only logical solution they could find is to ban everyone from the entire country. Apparently this ridiculous rule was set by the COO Patricia. I am very disappointed to say the least as I have been recommending this place to many guests that stayed in the backpackers I worked at. Also I highly doubt that is a legal move Pat, you may want to check.||||For all who are allowed in there, pass my regards to old Pat (bless her heart) and thank her for fostering racism in a country that's already had...
Read moreThis place was recommended to us and it was very disappointing. First I must mention the lady at the counter was simply wonderful but it ended there. We camped and the dogs next door barked all night every night. This place is not very well located if you have not got your own transport.||||Sign are located everywhere telling you what you cant do...more like a detention center than a backpackers. No cooking, no external food or drinks etc etc...fine I guess except when we ordered some food almost nothing was available. I will have a beer than...nope wrong again they had none. ||||Toilet was broken and the only working shower was so damn hot you could not get near it.||||The place was almost deserted and the few guests there all had simular stories.||||It seems this place has seen better days and management has used it...
