Fair Acres Boutique Hotel & Restaurant - Karen — Hotel in Nairobi

The fairacres house is in Karen at the beginning of Hekima road. The signage at the entrance is on the gate and not easily seen. Other than that, the place is very clean. It has a large patio and a well kept garden with beautiful pulm trees, shrubs and flowers. The grass too is well maintained. The hotel adheres to corona virus regulations. We sat at the patio for our luncheon-which was composed of chicken, beef, roast potatoes, rice and a vegetable curry plus a salad. I liked the taste of the vegetable curry and the starter- pumpkin soup. Then later a few of us took a tour of the place. Accommodation is offered here too and the rooms are sparkling clean. One has a choice of a self catering room, a family room and an ordinary room. The kitchen is an open kitchen and one has a choice of dining inside, at the terrace or patio or at the garden. This boutique hotel is located in a nice,safe neighborhood in Karen, outside of the city of Nairobi. The rooms are generally good and the common facilities are quite nice. That being said, our service experience was terrible. Lena at reception was excellent but the rest were generally a disaster. The food was mediocre at best and often terrible. We had one lunch where our group of six were the only ones in the restaurant. It took an hour to receive our food and some did not receive what they ordered and much of the food quality was poor. |The morning of our departure there was no water in our rooms. Great location, beautiful manicured garden with local plant species labeled so you can learn their names. David and Thomas in the restaurant take care of all of the food needs and make delicious local and western cuisine. The garden bar and eating area is a beautiful calm and relaxing refuge from the bustle of Nairobi. Great location close to all the great wildlife things to do in the city. Highly recommend!
