I had worst experience at Ibis. I usually have a good one but after this one, I will not be booking anymore at Ibis. I reserved and paid two rooms with months of anticipation to go to the Olympics in France. The day before the reservation, I received an email asking me to do check-in and I did it accordingly. When I got to the hotel with my family, the hotel was closed. No notes, nothing. A neighbor told me that the hotel has been closed for months and that there was another ibis hotel close by. I went to the closest ibis and I told them about my situation - the receptionist told me they were aware about it; this was not the first time that someone had a reservation and was not informed the hotel was closed, and that I should find another hotel and contact customer service because they could not do anything for us. Awful. And they went ahead and say I could possibly stay there but the price would be more than double that I initially booked. I reached out to customer service and the answer was: "I am sorry about your bad experience, we will inform the hotel management". What hotel management if the place is closed? I raised a second ticket and they do not answer about bad experience nor the money I paid already for the rooms...
Read moreIn all fairness I can't really say for sure what was worst - the dingy dark atmosphere in the small reception area, dining room and corridors; or the grotty stained bedsheets paired with dirty mosquito netting and a threadbare bed-cover; or the stained toilet bowl which looked lonely and forlorn without its seat which had broken off years ago. Truth to tell, to call Ibis a hotel is being too kind in my view. Boarding house and lodging is more like it. The condom array set out behind the receptionist leave no doubt about the main source of income for the place. Lovers trysts. My conscience would not allow me to stay there more than one night, and even then I seriously pondered moving out immediately (7pm) to go find another hotel. Unfortunately I was a stranger in Nyeri, somewhere I've never been before, and I'd paid for the room anyway, so I decided to stay put and scamper for safety first thing in the morning. The only two good things about this place were the WiFi and the hot water. Nothing else. In short, your money can surely find better uses than this 'hotel' if...
