Osotua Luxury Resort by ICON — Hotel in Olkaria ward

The property looks good. The villas are spacious and well furnished. However we did not get some basic items in our villa. |1. Toiletries - Toothbrush / slippers being a villa hotel slipper are necessary to move around the villa.|2. There was no dustbin in the kitchen.|3. Tissue box missing in the toilets en the kitchen.|4. WiFi is weak in the bedrooms. Booster is needed.|5. There was no water jug heater, making it impossible to make tea or coffee in the house.|6. Some sockets not working |7. Cupboard for the vanity setup doors falling apart|8. Master bedroom taps are broken. |9. The SQ was locked and inaccessible, this was one of the selling point but we still could not access it.|10. Water is cold at night even when using the hot side of the water flow.||Restaurant |- The meal options are very limited.|- Food available is basic. |- Waiters are friendly and attentive but do not have name tags and do not introduce themselves. |- Manager is friendly and hands on.|- When ordering for some drinks (coffee latte which should be part of breakfast) they only bring the bill to sign yet do not inform customers prior that it has to be paid separately. |- There no appropriate plates for serving fruits.|- Left one serving spoon for all fruits not knowing some fruits could be allergic to someone and also creating environment for cross contamination.|- Reception lady was not welcoming, seemed bored en dull on the day of our arrival, however the subsequent days the other ladies were very friendly and professional. |- Feedback was given to the manager and was positively accepted, Promise was given to improve on...

I’ve been a regular at Osotua Villa Resort and always thought of it as a favorite spot — until one visit completely changed how I see the place.

That day, we came in as walk-in guests (not driving), and the experience was unexpectedly frustrating right from the gate. We were almost denied entry, with excessive questioning just to be “cleared.” At the time, it didn’t fully register — I assumed it was just a rough day. I even reported the poor service during that visit, but nothing seemed to change.

It wasn’t until later that a friend who works at the resort quietly explained what was really going on: walk-in guests are often treated as less important than those who drive in. That realization was disappointing and honestly a bit painful, especially from a place I used to support.

Good service should never depend on how someone arrives. Bias like that is subtle but real — and it alienates loyal customers who...
