Absolutely appalling service. I would put 0 stars if I could Firstly we asked for a move to a flat with air-conditioning as we didn't realise the flat we got didn't come with one. We had to pay 2000 KSH extra per night for this which was fine. The AC was used most of the afternoon and then we went out in the evening for 45mins to 1hr when we got back there was no electricity. Initially we thought it was the fuse. We tried to call the person we booked with. She didn't pick up her phone for a while. There is no emergency number to call. Tried to speak with the security but hard because they don't speak much English. Eventually got to speak with the person we booked with. She asked the security to check the fuse we spent maybe an 1hr back and forth looking for a fault. She even said she couldn't do anything this was around 11pm. We woukd have to wait. It was hot and humid.
We asked for another flat which she initially said she couldn't help with. Eventually she said it seems the electricity needed topping up but she didn't have the metre number which we went to look for but couldn't find even with the help of the security. She said "she was at the end of her thinking capacity ". Very non-chalant attitude.
Eventually we got a new flat for the night. No AC and we paid for the this
Probably after 1-2hrs.
She then sent my wife a message the following day stating she has topped up the electricity in the flat we were in but if it finishes "we top up ourselves". Utterly ridiculous as we paid for a service and felt very gaslighted. We didn't feel comfortable or safe after this and it did leave a bitter taste in our mouths as this was our first tine in Kenya.
I would advice to avoid this place
I have seen the response. We didn't sneak anyone in and we clearly saw your CCTV. We didn't lie about it. The reason she stayed over was because it was too late to leave partly because of the electricity issue. We have messages if you asking for the payment for the AC. You clearly didn't deny the asking us to top up the...
Read moreAbsolutely appalling service and very unprofessional. Some rooms have no air conditioning and we paid extra to upgrade as it was incredibly hot. Went out and came back to no electricity and the lady was rude and and was essentially saying she was tired and couldn’t help us ! We are in another country with no light, electricity or anything ! We spend hours trying to beg for another accommodation and my sister who helped me bring my stuff to the accommodation had to stay the night with us as it was too late for her to go back. She left the next morning. I woke up to threatening messages from the lady/manager. Despite the inconvenience we experienced. She told us if we finished the electricity we need to top up. We went ahead and paid extra for the extra guest that stayed due to their inconvenience . We received no apology or compensation. Also the room they moved us to had no air condition so we paid extra for air condition to not even get it at night. Very very arrogant rude service. No 24 hour help desk. Even surprised we managed to speak to the lady after I called her over 30 times ! I have added photo of the proof of her telling us to top Up. I can also provide full proof with their contact number if anyone wants ! I have never visited Kenya and don’t even know how to top up electricity. We ended up spending our last night with just fan on as we were worried electricity would finish again. When making the booking they also don’t tell you the name of the property. The reviews are dodgy as all 5 star which makes me think they are asking people they know to leave good review. They asked for 3ksh and then increased to 9ksh. They were annoyed at us for using the air conditioning and using electricity despite us paying extra for air conditioned apartment !
Also I check online and it is the same cost for 2 or 3 people so they scammed us to get more money.
Also it’s really ironic after I left my review this place now has many people going and reviewing! I am convinced they are paying people to make...
Read moreLocation: Advertised to be close to the beach, but isolated from it by a big swamp and you will have to walk far to it. On your way you will pass building sites and ruins in a poorly developed area. In fact we were advised to take a tuktuk or taxi because of safety, by the agent. Later we heard that even that was unsafe. The roads there are extremely bumpy and uncomfortable so getting there and away is not a pleasant ride.
Apartments: Looks nice on surface but mostly just a shell for something not yet finished. Very noisy and poor sound proofing. Also mosquitos come very easily in to the apartment through an open ventilation room. Building is protected by a guy that seems to be sleeping in a shack for homeless people across the road. Gate is open to all kinds of people.
Service: Once booking had been comfirmed by the agent, the agent decided to change the prices since it was high season in December. We were told we could cancel if we didn't accept new prices but would then have had no place to sleep. After that we were told we had to stay half the time we had planned to stay, even though the description of the apartment in the add was a lie. No attempt to meat our discomfort by the agent. Just looking for easy money to take advantage of tourists.
In short: We advise you to get another place to enjoy your holiday in Mombasa. This was a very bad start to ours and we left...
