Prestige Holiday Resort Malindi — Hotel in Shella ward

Had a not quite voluntary stopover in Malindi en route between Lamu and Watamu. The idea was to find something cheap and close to the airport. Prestige Holiday Resort is in fact cheap and close to the airport. The fun started when the taxi driver didn't find the place and, GPS-assisted, ended up in a field where goats were grazing peacefully. I had a vague idea where the place should be, and finally we arrived. The "hotel" is a bare concrete block right on the highway, in the middle of nowhere. When I stayed, a charming young lady was in charge who, however, herself didn't seem quite convinced of the merits of the establishment. Rooms are very basic and bare, mosquito nets have very big holes, and there are a lot of mosquitoes. The fan worked, the WiFi didn't. The lady in charge rustled up some rudimentary dinner and breakfast for me - no mean feat, since I was the only guest. All in all, it was a very bleak and mirthless affair. Nyokabi the manager is great and welcoming. She gave me more than I bargained for. She gave me a bigger room than what I had booked for. She was available to help. ||||The rooms are clean, you can arrange to cook your meals at the kitchen. It is queit and nice if you are just want to take a rest both at night and during the day. ||||The resort is located near the airport - 7 minutes walk.||||Look forward to staying...
