After reading reviews of other people.. I thought wow this is such a nice place to go to..
I booked for a 3 day stay.. (29th June - 1st July)
We reached in the evening at around 6 pm.. Hungry and tired of the long trip from nairobi..
After check in we go to the many restaurants (the hotel boasts about)in search of food.. To purchase.. Even though we booked under fullboard.. Okay so now we reached our first restaurant.. The guy tells us we are closed.. The second restaurant the attendee waits for me to go to the ladies only to tell my husband that they can't serve us food because the food comes from the main kitchen in the main restaurant.. And later on went ahead and said we are closing because it is raining..(so what if it is raining?? The food wasn't getting wet neither was the inside of the restaurant how can you tell a guest that??) Disappointed by the responses from the restaurants.. We ask at the reception where we can get some bitings because we were famished..again the receptionist goes like just wait for 40 mins dinner will be served.. How don't you guys keep some bitings for guests?? I mean the travelling was already soo tiring.. You should be considerate of such situations.. (Btw we did explain that we didn't get proper food throughout the journey from Nairobi as well, still we were told to just hold on!! Personally i didn't like that one bit!! I suffer from severe acidity and getting food in my stomach is always a priority otherwise i end up in agony.. I really really felt disappointed )
Next thing that happened is that we were told that there are specific times for fullboard items to be served!! I mean what is the purpose of full board and a holiday if you can't get everything you want at whatever time?? How do you guys put up rules like you can't eat from all the restaurants on full board.. I understand not all restaurants are owned by the hotel but still fullboard is fullboard.. No exceptions!! Then how do you tell us people who are on full board drinks are served only after 11 am and you expect us to check out by 10 am... How do we utilise our full board access?? (We even ended up purchasing them.. We even purchased food inspite of the fullboard status)
Even the swimming pool.. How do we not have access to it all the time?? You have a magnificent pool.. Why soo many restrictions?? Same goes to the hotel such a beautiful breath taking place.. Very very poor service!!
I was soooo disappointed at all this..
Last complaint would be the road to Amani tiwi.. Oh my goodness!! Its such a long tiring bumpy ride.. It takes you atleast 20-30 mins just getting to the hotel.. Now this all also depends on the car being used.. Small cars can take that long.. Bigger cars probably lesser time..
The only reason we would go back to amani tiwi is only because of the beauty of the hotel.. Otherwise i would request you guys to maybe work on the above issues so that future guests don't go through what we...
Read moreWe stayed at the Amani Tiwi Beach Resort for 2 nights all inclusive in June 2016. We had a wonderful time from start to finish. All the staff were very kind and accomodating. They were always concerned about how were enjoying our stay. We were especially impressed by the general manager, Aditya. He was very present and often interacting with guests. He truly puts his heart into his work. We had a wonderful room with a balcony overlooking the (extremely long) pool. There was AC and 12 channels on the TV. Everything was clean and cozy. The beach is nice with comfy beach chairs and fun sort of bed swings attached to trees. The security seems to keep the beach vendors from coming up to the upper part of the beach. The only 2 negatives we noted were that: 1) there were some problems with the wi-fi, though when it did work the speed was impressive and the coverage very good; and 2) some of the breakfast food didn't seem so fresh and at lunch and dinner you need to order your drinks from the waiters that come around and they sometimes take 5-10 minutes to bring your drink. Other than that the food quality seemed great. It was always nice to have fresh fruit at every meal. We liked that at each lunch and dinner we attended, we were able to choose pasta with one of two sauces and our choice of vegetables that they mixed and fried up in front of us. We also had some very delicious fish and lamb. Overall we really enjoyed the atmosphere of the resort and we'd be happy...
Read moreOlder hotels may lack the glitz and glamor of their newer counterparts, but what they lack of in modernity is more than made up in one simple way; character. A hotel with character is one where guests are kept happy and comfortable by staff who know their job, and Amani Tiwi is one of the best hotels I've had the pleasure of staying at in a long time. A successful hotel runs on very simple facets; great customer service, good food and plenty of recreation facilities. Amani Tiwi has all of this, plus much more. Despite the current economic crunch, coupled with the hesitation of Western tourists to visit Kenya due to the prevalent political situation, Amani Tiwi was very well occupied by both foreigners and locals, which is a strong sign that the hotel is doing its business right. What I loved: the food was pretty great, especially for salad lovers. Meat servings are small, but keep going back for more! The swimming pool is large and stretches well over 100 meters or so, and is meticulously cleaned every morning. The rooms are large and very comfortable. The animation team has activities stretched out throughout the day, and the gymnasium has old but well maintained machines with two really great personal trainers. Staff are overall very friendly, and a shout out to Ms. Mariam, who is especially helpful at the check in counter. The not-so-good: WiFi is quite terrible, so be prepared to have a good...
