GK Palms Resort — Hotel in Watamu ward

Wow! This is a place my wife and I would like to stay again, especially once the WiFi signal is stabilized and speeds optimized, which I was assured is being sorted out. This affected my room and is the only reason for the missing star. :(||The staff is very responsive. Lydia, the receptionist, went above and beyond to cater to us. She is the undisputed anchor of the resort. The rest of the staff were friendly and always checked in whenever we passed by them.||The rustic Italian architecture and ground landscaping transfers you to a different world and time. We made a few suggestions about room lighting to evoke a better ambience but that was just personal taste. Another guest might scoff at it!||The pool is well maintained. We enjoyed several swims even though I'm nowhere near a master of the sport. Being the good swimmer that she is, my wife gave me some valuable lessons. Perhaps that's why I married her. :)||The restaurant food quality was okay but there are some other options around like Ndoto Cafe, where we had some of the best chicken curry and local cuisines we've ever tasted in our lives. The room is located on the second floor of a villa complex, very safe and quiet. You will have a balcony with a garden view, as well as a private bathroom and kitchen. The room is equipped with a mosquito net and a fan, which are very important. It's very close to the beach, but please note that some beaches are private. What needs to be specially mentioned are the services and restaurants here - they are arguably the best! Ms. Lydia will prepare everything you need! Great place and affordable mid-range hotel in Watamu. It’s not directly on the water but not far from the ocean at all. They have air-conditioned rooms which are amazing, but I think there is an upcharge for that. Very friendly staff and helpful throughout our stay. They helped to arrange dolphin watching and snorkeling at reasonable rates. Oh , and the pool is great! My only recommendation would be to work on speeding up meals at the restaurant— but this wasn’t so bad to warrant losing a star, in my opinion. The food is mostly local options but certainly tasty.
