TERRIBLE VACATION||This is the first time I have given such a low rating, I usually give it a 10. But this hotel is just a terrible case! We chose here at the Booking based on reviews that, apparently, were greatly exaggerated. But, everything is in order.||Firstly, as soon as we got to the hotel, the woman at the reception “delighted” us with the news that they were all booked and had some kind of overbooking, so on our last day from here we would leave and spend it at some their friend’s hotel. Seriously? Will we spend our last day on the ocean moving to your friends? We said strong “no”, it's your problem. Those woman called Justin, the hotel owner, and he said, well, ok, we’ll solve this problem somehow. Justin, for the future, if there is such a problem, then guests are not presented with such a choice. For moving “to friends” you need to offer something, a couple of free dinners, an excursion, money as compensation. You are running a business, and you should know this.||Further, worse, our toilet was broken, after complaining, Justin called a plumber. We woke up at night and the entire floor was covered in water that was flowing from the toilet bowl. On the first day, the plumber changed the toilet, but the water did not flush anything, on the second day the situation did not improve and Justin called the plumber again. So again, we watched in the room as he fixed the toilet. On a good note, they replaced our old shower cap with a new one. Whoever will be staying in our FUNZI room, don't thank us!||On the fourth day, the roof in the room above my bed collapsed. We got used to all sorts of beetles and scolopendras, but still asked for it to be repaired. We waited 2 days.||As for silence and relaxation, it’s simply not here. At night, the noise from discos makes it difficult to sleep, at least for us, on the second floor. There is also no time to rest during the day, the owner is building a kitchen right in front of the rooms, there is constant noise and it gives you a headache. I hope that the rooms on the second floor will not be rented out, because all the smells will go into the rooms.||There is almost always music playing in the hotel, but since the equipment is very cheap, all the bass went to us on the second floor. If you can hear music on the first floor, then on the second you can only hear boom-boom. Combined with the kitchen being built, we had a constant headache.||A couple of times the owner came with friends, as if to his summer house, music was playing loudly, they were playing billiards.||Mike, Justin's uncle, was trying to kiss my sister. What is this anyway? How dare you treat guests like this and exhibit such behavior?||Justin, the owner, stopped greeting us altogether on the third day and even noticing us. This is hospitality. But when three families arrived and occupied six rooms, there were hugs, friendly conversations, and they even put new ketchup bottles in the restaurant.||Let me add, it was my birthday! In all hotels they always offer congratulations, some kind of cake, cocktail or just a postcard, here we have never heard of such a thing!||On Christmas they set up a barbecue under our windows, they roasted for three hours, the smell was terrible, why should we endure this, some people came to the hotel, the music played until late. What is this anyway???||Where is the relaxation that people wrote about? We didn't see it even a minute.||Who wrote that WIFI is super? It didn’t work for two days, it’s yours super.||The food here is delicious, it’s true, both at breakfast and in the restaurant. Not bad.||Other staff are nice and friendly. Lea, Saidi, Renson, Felix and some another people really were trying to do something good for us. Even smiling it’s great! ||Advices: if you want a beach, you shouldn’t go to this close one, except maybe for a swim. Better to go to Watamu Beach, there are sun loungers, umbrellas, cafes, and all the infrastructure.||Tips: don't take this hotel, look for something better. This is the second time we’ve been to Watamu, honestly, we’re terrified and don’t want to come here again. It’s a pity, the owner sold our first hotel, Zawadi, so we chose Mvuvi. Our worse choice and we’ve been in...

Read moreWe have booked the Mvuvi lodge a couple months before the arrival, after checking reviews on booking.com. We’ve stayed in touch with general manager on what’s up prior to coming and became fortunate to get upgrade of the room (great thanks for that, Simon!). Also he arranged an airport pickup for us. ||Upon arrival we were greeted warmly with refreshments. Placement was fast, everything was according to plan. We got to live in the Manda bungalow with a private porch, behind the reception. There were comfortable beds with crispy sheets and mosquito nets (there were mosquito nets on the windows as well as fumigating devices, so mosquitoes were not an issue at all), large wardrobe, spacious bathroom with convenient ethnic shelves and baskets, hot water always. Wash gel became my love from the first shower! If I did not not travel just with a hand luggage and was allowed liquids on plane, I swear I’d steal it😂 Yes, and there was quality everyday cleaning - our beds looked as in the best hotels.||This lodge, quite small and cozy, is located right next to the big Ocean Sport resort. As MVUVI’s guests, we had free access on its territory - to the beach, restaurant or souvenir market. In the morning, when the tide is low, it’s real nice to walk there and local beach boys would show you moray eels, crabs and other sea creatures. Supermarket is about 10 minutes of walk from the lodge. But if lazy, bike boys and tuktuk drivers are always on duty behind the corner.||Usually I don’t spend much time in a hotel, preferring outside activities, but this time became an exception. Bar and restaurant were the best of those that we tried in the area, so finally we realised that’s much better to dine “at home”. Alex, the barmen, surrounded us with all the possible attention. Chef’s kitchen was just to eat fingers! For breakfast there was a big choice of eggs (omelette, scrambled, poached, boiled, etc), bacon, sausages, vegetables, cereal, bakery, lots of fruit and fresh juices. Every day there were dinner specials, and the grilled tuna is a must try. The territory is so green and nice you don’t wanna leave! Pool with giraffe style pattern. Sofas, sunbeds, hammock to relax, Nice choice of books. Big wall plasma to watch BBC safari movies or football games. Strong WiFi signal. ||We bought the full day snorkling trip to Watamu marine park from the hotel, and the rate was better than those offered at the beach. We needed to change currency, receptionist organized it for us on place with a bank employee coming. Not to forget, we truly enjoyed the massage here. The girls were really good at it, and I know what I’m talking about. There is also small shop with souvenirs, swimwear and other vacation stuff. ||Overall, there is nothing we could possibly complain about. You can feel the property is run by professionals. The staff is small but the service is amazing, Everybody was doing the great job. We felt dear guests here not just customers. Great thanks to all the Mvuvi team for our remarkable stay! I definitely recommend the place. ||PS The owners’ dog who was there all the time just added charm to our rest, we could not take our hands off her. She was such a sweat pea reminding us about our tails...
