Hotel Restaurant Pļavas — Hotel in Ainaži

We were disappointed from that place. First of all, since it was a weekend, they said for would take over an hour to arrive so we just ordered soup and salad which also took twenty minutes to arrive. The food was nothing special, the tomato soup was really sweet and the cesar salad with shrimps was neither a ceasar salad, didn't have croutons and the lettuce was small cut and hardly any shrimps. The prices are west European level. Definitely not close to Latvian and even not close to Estonian. A bottle of wine is around 25 euro, the salad was 9 euro each and other stuff as well. Service was ok, the waiter's English was pretty poor.

Visited it on the way to Tallinn, but ONLY because it was named in the list, called Top 8 restaurants out of Riga. On paper the menu looks very good, it includes interesting combinations of ingredients, but reality was different. It looks like it was a good place once, but the fine knowledge was lost (new stuff? or business needs?) and there is only formal following to old rules without real know-how. Presentation of dishes is still ok, but there is no taste, they use frozen produce, or overcook food. And the coffee is bad, alas. In short, ordinary food-stop on a highway. We came to the hotel one night because we were going to Superalko, which is near the hotel. The hotel is located along the busy Tallinn Pärnu Road. The appearance of the hotel blurred because the inside of the hotel was clean, the large restaurant hall was cozy and the backyard of the hotel had a beautiful garden where you could eat or drink beer. The room was small but comfortable, there was no TV in the room and we didn't need it. Breakfast started at 9am but we already got 7.30 coffee, juice and stuffed pancakes.
