Black stork — Hotel in Jūrmala

Stayed at the Melnais Starkis guesthouse for 10 nights i july 2007 with my wife and two kids. The place is nice and clean and has very friendly service. You can be served breakfast or prepare your own food in the common kitchen.||Planned to book a hotel in the Majori area, but was unable to find a reasonable priced hotel that was not fully booked. Ended up with this guest house, located at the other end of Jurmala and about 16 km from Majori. The guesthouse is located only 400 m form the beach, and there is a good resturant across the road. However, this is just about all there is in Jaunkemeri. The nearest shop and next resturant is located in Kauguri 4 km away. ||The local buses along the coast goes by just about every half an hour, or you can take the local taxi wich proably will charge you twice the normal rate of 0,5 LVL/ km. ||NB. I stayed at this guesthouse for 1.5 months with my baby daughter and enjoyed it very much, specifically:||- the area is very pretty and calm, the guesthouse is situated on the border of Kemeri national park and within 5-10 mins walking distance from a great beach with pines and clean white sand||- the place is convenient for families with small children: there are cots, baby tubs etc available, a nice sandbox, and everything required to prepare baby food||- the onwers and everyone working at the guesthouse are very nice and friendly and we felt very comfortable, almost like at own "dacha" : ) ||||If you are staying for more than a few days, I definitely recommend to have a car, as all shops, eating etc. are not within walking distance, except one restaurant on the way to the beach which might not be open||||Great value for money for a quiet family vacation, I...

Small hotel located in Jurmala area. It's ten minutes drive to Jurmala and about 35 minutes drive to Riga (20 minutes to the airport). Far from the noisy Jurmala activities but too close to the Baltic Sea shore and nice forrest.The hotel is clean, with all necessary amenities. Basic European breakfast.
