NB Hotel — Hotel in Riga

.....interesting after reading all the mixed reviews.....personally i went with low expectations ....and was pleasantly surprised, i would describe NB Hotel has budget friendly, clean, cheerful accommodation as far as how it looks, good for short stays, the beds were comfortable, with clean fresh linen (but I'm quite small compared to most people in this region who are 6feet tall, perhaps the beds are not so accommodating for them???) with generous buffet breakfast, excellent parking space and easy access to Riga CBD and the LU Botanical gardens....a few things to mention, of course as others have said it requires a good reno, we had to pay upfront rather than @ then end of our stay, which was unusual but i'm an Aussie traveller who is now accustomed to expect the unexpected, for the price in the Baltic region, I think the accommodation level it's what you would expect ~ : ) ....and Latvia's excellent summer weather made everything seem wunderbar...

I stayed in this hotel for four nights. I wasn't expecting comfort or luxuriousness of the place. I will remember this hotel for absence of cleanliness. Be prepared, you get what you paid for. On the plus side food was good and not expensive. Same applies to drinks. It is hotel known for hosting billiards ans snooker events evidenced by the banks of billard and snooker tables. I was on a dance weekender so the cost of staying the hotel was more of group booking. Shared a twin bedroom with someone I havent met before. Lack of decent wardrobe or cloth hanging space in the room and the bathroom was bit frustrating. It was well heated and the shower was the best feature. Staff were freindly. This establishment has the potential of being a good comfortable hotel if the management understands the cleanliness. I am struggling to rate it as...

The hotel is conveniently located near main routes therefore it is popular with lorry drivers and other travellers. It has some pool tables downstairs a bar and a dining hall. The hotel is located over several buildings separated by courtyard at the back and parking space at the front. I stayed at the main building and the room was really big with a main bathroom and a separate wc. The bed was a bit of a letdown since it was not a proper bed but two folding guest beds moved together. The room was clean and in good wear condition. I would have rated this hotel better but that night I spent there it was raining and the roof guttering was leaking straight onto my room's window sill creating a loud banging noise.. I only managed to get some sleep once the rain died down.. If it is not raining you...
