Friendly local cafe and so reasonable! I doubt they see many English tourists as it's a couple of miles across the river from the old town. Charming barmaid helped me out with the Latvian menu.

I had a perfectly nice BBQ burger and fries (if you speak Latvian you could probably even specify how you wanted it cooked - mine came medium which is what a burger should be). Plus a nice 'traditional' large Latvian beer - the bill came to €8.50! It took a while to arrive so I don't think they'd be geared up for large parties (and they wouldn't have the space).

It's an unpretentious neighbourhood bar / cafe - the clientele when I was in between 6 and 7 on a Wednesday evening was two old ladies, two middle aged couples, then later a family with a small child and some young blokes having a quick drink after work. Found the restaurant on Google searching for top rated restaurants. User pictures made us go there. Getting there makes you start thinking that something is wrong: "No one would place a restaurant here".

But apparently... someone DID indeed place a restaurant here. When entering, one would think this cannot be correct. Then you look at the menu. Nothing in English. Google Lens couldn't really translate it very well. We found some pasta dishes and thought that this cannot go totally wrong.

About to order, and we imagined that it would be hard to communicate in English, but no... it worked very well, and the pasta was so great... maybe the best pasta we have ever gotten, tastes truly homemade. The portions are so large that no one would be able to finish it. I would say to large, haha

Заведение неплохое, есть потенциал, но интерьер скучный. На стенах почти ничего не весит. Такая, типо хата холостяка. Есть столики на улице, навес, это всё + Играет базовое радио 📻 , а для какой-то атмосферы необходима нормальная музыка. На кухне нет вытяжки и все запахи того или иного блюда летят в зал. Карты меню сделаны очень просто. Если бы над ними поработать, было бы приятнее ими пользоваться. Видно, что всем занимается сам владелец, кроме кухни разумеется. На кухне есть повар. Но вместо операционной работы, лучше бы нанять официанта/бармена в одном лице, а самому посвятить время на усовершенствование заведения. Второй зальчик не вызывает желания в нём находиться вообще. Столики там маленькие, а просится какая то особая зона. Еду не пробовал, выглядело + по запахам довольно таки хорошо. Я проработал в этом заведении 3,5 часа и многое подметил. Выбрал его по рейтингу в Google, но потенциал там на полноценный ресторан нормального уровня. Конечно если им заниматься. Чай Элгрей (заварной) правда полная шляпа. Можно же взять нормальных фирм. Он окупится с 2х 3х чайничков, зато вкус будет на орбите по сравнению с этим... В общем я пока не предлагал свои услуги по оптимизации бизнеса, пока не запустил свой проект, но определённо это стоит...
