We stayed at Hotel Tukums for 4 nights this month. To be clear before going any further, we were in the suite, which was more like an apartment and was very roomy. Considering Tukums is a small town with only a few hotel options, we did not expect a lot and we were pleasantly surprised by this place. ||||Here's what to know. ||||Accessibility: When we arrived, we realized that the hotel reception desk is on the second floor -- up a flight of stairs with no elevator. That was not a problem for us and we carried our suitcases upstairs, but it's important to know before staying there if you have physical issues. Our room was also on the 2nd floor, but there is also a third floor - which could mean another flight of stairs. The restaurant is downstairs from the first floor, so two flights down from the reception desk.||||Staff: We had a good experience checking in and throughout our stay. The front desk staff was all very friendly throughout our stay and spoke very good English which helps as my Latvian words consist of food items, please and thank you, and basic greetings. We also ran into a situation where it was holiday and everything was closed, so they arranged to bring us wine, beer and strawberries. This was sooo appreciated! Tip: If you show up at 4 am and the front door is locked, there is a bell to ring and the manager will let you in. (We were there during midsummer's eve... nuff said.) ||||Room/Cleanliness: Once we got to our room, we were happy with the cleanliness of it. Actually that's not fair. It was spotless. Our suite had a large clean bathroom, a small fridge, and a queen sized bed along with a living area with couches. It was very nice. (I have not seen the other rooms, so I'm only speaking of that room in particular.) ||||Wifi: Free but temperamental and slow. ||||Comfort: This hotel does not have air-conditioning which is not usually a problem in Latvia, unless the temperature is in the mid 80s like it was during our visit. ||||Breakfast: We had a complimentary breakfast which was very nice. (but I'm not sure if that is for everyone or if it was a special... I don't see it on the site, so double check.) For breakfast, you just need to order with the front desk the day before. (OR look on the front desk for a sign because if there's a buffet you don't need to order. You just show up.) ||||Restaurant: The restaurant which was good (and where you get your breakfast) is downstairs from the first floor. We ate at the restaurant for dinner and it had excellent food. It was a bit more expensive than some of the other places in Tukums that we ate, but it was very very good. ||||Bowling: There is a bowling alley 3 floors down from the hotel reception desk. Believe it or not, it's a floor below the restaurant which is already in the basement. We bowled there and the staff was friendly and the bowling alley itself was nice.||||We will...
Read moreWe booked a basic room, and found it to be quite a bit larger than expected - had a full-length sofa, even. Beds very comfortable, nice view outside of the countryside, very clean all around. We also took a peak at a large room with a big double-bed in a separate alcove and twin beds in the main section - it was also very spacious and would have been very comfortable for a family.||||Breakfast was included and was very good. We didn't try the rerstaurant at night, as there is an excellent, picturesque restaurant across the street, ||||I rate this hotel as excellent value for the money and for the type of hotel it is. It does not present itself as a luxury hotel, but everything is new and pretty. I don't have any suggestions except for picky ones like more shampoos in...
Read moreWe stayed at Hotel Tukums for 1 nights. The first impression was already not good, as receptionist was not informed about our booking. We get double room which size is 2 bed and one square meter between. But we ordered room with extra bet for children for 15 eur. We had to pay extra 18 eur. instead of 15 for extra bed. I dont like then advertising lies to me even about 3 eur. ||After that we get big triple room. ||Room was OK. No condition for very hot days, no fridge. ||Breakfast very poor, I could say nothing, I had to go to kitchen to ask for more food. ||No bread, no butter, no eggs, poor coffe...||Price/service rate in this property is inadequate.||Boring Tukums town, everything was closed, we found only few places to eat in...
