Jūras brīze — Hotel in Ventspils

If you are a "breakfast person", staying in this hotel is a very good idea. Breakfast costs only €5, and I do not remember ever having been offered such gorgeous and creative meals in the morning. There are only about half a dozen options, but the two I tried were fantastic. The one minor drawback is that you need to let the hotel know in advance (i.e. on the day before) exactly when you want to have breakfast. ||My room was clean, spacious and quiet. There was a bit of a musty smell, though. The hairdryer in the bathroom was useful, and so was the kettle. ||The staff members I met were very friendly and helpful. They all spoke English - some very well, others less well.||The hotel is close to the beach and the university. The distance from the coach station is about 30...

The good stuff: good location; good opening hours; can sit outside; coffee; food (sometimes).

TOTAL TURN OFF: attitude of waitresses (most but not all)- unless you comply with what’s written in the menu and their regular routine, you are going to see distorted faces, general dissatisfaction, coments, no thank you etc.. If commenting on it - blaming towards you; and whats more surprising - managements tollerance and approval of it up to the level of suggesting customer not to come to this place at all (in front of all the waitreses).

But I guess when there is no other breakfast place one can operate in this manner.

If you are coming in the evening, be ready to wait in line and get to see confused rushing waiters.

One waiter sent me to a table inside while we were waiting in line outside. When I asked of the possibility to change, another person said I should wait in line (what we did for past 20 min before we got to a table inside). Noone was interested in asking what happened, whether we ordered or not. I just kept being told that there is no way to change (even if we had not placed an order).

Zero client-oriented approach but rather “get out of my way I am busy” vibe here.

The experience made us walk away after not trying...
