This was a nice find! Located in the steep valley below the city (called the Grund). It is a boutique hotel, very small (I think four rooms total on different levels) and build against the valley rock wall. The proprietor greeted us at the sidewalk which was a good thing because it is located at the intersection of four narrow streets with some traffic and no place to park. So my first tip is to pay in advance for hotel parking. I believe they have only space for maybe two cars as their parking is a wide spot on a narrow road close to the hotel. There are public lots close by but they were filled so getting parking ahead of time will save frustration. We were able to quickly unload our car and I was able to park.||Hotel check in was smooth. Very tiny space. Hotel has an excellent breakfast but you need to give them an approximate time you will be down (likely because quarters are tight and they have only one person servicing).||The room was a surprise. It was a suite and was actually large and well decorated. Comfortable master bedroom and a sitting area with a comfortable sofa-bed. Bathroom was very nice, modern, rock wall. Problem was privacy. I understand from reading past reviews that some were bothered by the glass enclosure giving, well, no privacy. They solved that problem by frosting the glass. But, still has a privacy issue.||Another tip. The hotel is near an elevator that takes one to the main town above. But, there are two elevators. When we had seen enough of the town and wanted to decend to the Grund we used iphone navigation to the elevator which we took down and started a very long walk only to realize there is actually a second elevator and we had taken the wrong one (had to go back to the top and walk down as we could not find the other elevator). ||I really like this hotel and found it very comfortable. I would recommend that anyone staying here do their homework on parking and how to access the sites to see efficiently. Hotel can...
Read moreOur family stayed in the third and fourth floor rooms. The fourth floor is very aesthetically attractive with the sloped ceilings and leafy views. The room is spacious with what Americans would refer to as a king size bed. Note that the bathroom is concealed from the main room around a corner but there is no door. There is a large tub (in the main room) but no shower. The third floor room was even more spacious with a pullout sofa with high quality mattress in roughly an American queen size, along with the main bed in the space, a king. The bathroom area is very nice with privacy glass and a shower. Both rooms are well ventilated, very quiet, and have nice views. Rooms have a small refrigerator and coffee/tea; hardwood and tile flooring and are exceptionally clean. The area surrounding the hotel is historical and has many quality resturant options. We did not reserve breakfast at the hotel but it looked delicious and we will certainly select it on our return. I recommend reserving the hotel’s parking option as we found parking difficult in the immediate area. Also note, if you are going to the top of the steep hill to get to other parts of town there is a free 24/7 elevator. The entire town is walkable from the hotel’s location, with many nice paths along the river. I would highly recommend la pipistrelle hotel if you are staying...
Read moreThis is a unique place to stay in the lower part of city center but easy walking to everything in Luxembourg. We had a little trouble finding the place using google maps. It can be confusing. We arrived from the train station and if you make sure to turn where they indicate after a short walk and heading down you should be okay. Unfortunately we walked way too far but eventually found the place with Olga waiting outside to greet us. The place has 4 rooms, each on its own floor. I know others have indicated how narrow the stairs are but truly if you have full sized luggage I'm not sure how you'd get it up the stairs. We were in room 3 and got a good work out coming and going down the narrow steps. If walking or climbing are issues this might be a little difficult. The hotel is built into the side of a mountain so our large room had a wonderful rock wall which added to the character. The window opens onto a lovely area in the older part with places to walk and eat but not too busy or noisy. Everything was clean and spacious and Olga assisted with any questions and issues as well as providing a lovely breakfast in the morning. If we were to return we would definitely...
