I had a fantastic week staying with Mickaël and Gersica. There are many positive things to say about my stay at l’Anajava B&B.
The rooms and breakfast area are simple yet tastefully furnished and kept very clean and tidy. Also having a small outside seating area attached to each room provided a great space to dry wet gear from days out and just relax and enjoy the evening. For such reasonable costs things are very well maintained.
The location is wonderful. It balances easy access to a stunning beach, and scuba diving facility (less than 1 minute walk) with the quiet and secluded nature that makes you feel like you are somewhere far more remote than you actually are. In my opinion far better than being herded into the nearby resorts with 1000’s of other people.
The breakfasts were excellent. It was a pleasant mix of some days more traditional Malagasy food and other days more western style. All of it was absolutely delicious and made for great start to each day.
However what excelled more than any other attribute, and the reason in my mind I would not consider staying anywhere else if I return to Nosy Be, was the kindness and hospitality of the hosts, Michaël and Gersica. From the moment I arrived they were very welcoming and were eager to help in any way they could. Everything from simple advice about how much to pay for certain Tuk Tuk rides to providing top notch recommendations of trips to do and what companies are the best to go with. Their vast experience of the local area really paying if I getting the best excursions and days out. Not only that but they went above and beyond and several times dropping me off and collecting me from different excursions. As a solo traveler and someone that doesn’t speak Malagasy or French to any decent level this was of great value to me.
Overall I had a superb week and look forward to any opportunity I get to return to stay at L’Anajava in the future. I cannot recommend this place highly...
Read moreWould be great but the owners especially the husband had a problem with me before I arrived. They kept saying bad things about Americans. I’ve spent over 20 years traveling Madagascar and never encounter this crazy behavior. I was sick diarrhea and resting in my room then the owner threatened me to call gendarme if I did not leave in 5 minutes and pay the night he want me to leave. Very unprofessional.but he’s a great cook. He kept saying I have problems with their service or class of hotel but I was happy there other than the rude attitude of owners. Owners are from Tana. They asked me 1 million questions and then after discovering my professional career, they called my boss locally and complained that I was keeping of floor fan in my room too long and put in a very bad word to my local boss which is incredibly unprofessional. She was shocked at their bad behavior too. Would never return. Horrible disgusting behavior that could have been relaxed without issue. I speak French, Malagasy and English. I’ve never been so abused and offended for a service I paid for. Because if their crazy behavior my local scuba trip was canceled. This crazy couple cost me one week of time and over $1000 wasted money on rooms, travel etc and caused incredible...
Read moreThis is an amazing and cozy place where I recomend every traveler to stay. Each house is situated in an amazing garden where you can see in every corner the touch of it's owners (a beauty that reflects exactly their character: warm and welcoming). Gersica and Mickael made our 12 days spent there to be something to remember❤️ The rooms are very clean furnished in a simple but stylish way and the bathroom fully functional and new. The breakfast was amasing (Gersica and Naftalie are top in home made yummy breakfast) and another surprise is that Mickael is a very good chef. He can cook for you if you want and I can tell that is a MUST DO here. I gave him one Michelin Star of my own:)). Also, if you need any advise or help for what to do and visit, they are the right persons to ask. They will make your stay unforgetable. As per the location: is 2 minutes away from Andilana Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches on the island with white sand and clear and blue water Me and my husband are travelers and for us, this location is on our top ten on earth and I an not subjective here. I highly recommend Anjava for your stay!❤️
PS: Gersica and Mickael speak both french and english.
