We stayed 4 nights at D’cave Homestay and we had a fantastic time. The place is located 10 minutes walk from the airport and 10 minutes ' walk from the national park. Robert and Diana are very friendly and made our stay extra special by organising our tour to the waterfall and the Iman long house. We also booked the tours directly with the park, but this one was by far the best. The guide they chose was very knowledgeable and explained everything, the culture of the Penan people, the use of plants, etc. The rooms are also comfortable, and the bathroom was never busy ( there are two shared toilets and showers) despite other guests being in the house. Diana cooked delicious dinners (RYM 25) and breakfast (included in the price of the stay. Lunch is also available upon request. Teas and coffee are available all day, and the a water refill. They also sell beer for RYM 10. Diana showed us traditional clothing and we were able to gett dressed and take pictures. She also performed a traditional dance for us. We really enjoyed the stay and it was great to come back to the nice atmosphere after a day...
Read moreWe had a fantastic time at D'cave homestay. Robert and Dianna were the perfect hosts. They made us feel extremely welcome and were always happy to help, advise, and explain much about Mulu. It's the perfect location, a few mins walk to the park entrance, well equipped, wither great food and was a haven after a long day trekking and visiting the caves.
The local tour to the waterfall they offer was outstanding, with a great guide and was a highlight of our stay!
I'd recommend booking trips with Robert and Dianna at the homestay instead of the park. While the guides from the park were good, the guides they selected were fantastic! They offered great insight and were always happy to answer any questions.
I can't recommend staying...
Read moreDina and Robert are very nice and hospitable hosts and make you feel at home. It was great to talk to them and enjoy the local food they cooked for dinner. The location is perfect as it is 10 mins from both the airport and the park entrance on foot. The dorm is cozy and the beds are comfortable (very soft mattresses). We were only 3 people in the room though (it fits five). As you're living on the edge of the rainforest it is best to bring some earplugs. The frogs, cicadas and what not can be loud 😊. Full rainforest experience among the local people. Makes the stay at Mulu National Park even more special. Would definitely stay there again!
(And yes, they have kittens at...
