Review Jan 2022: Came back again to this hotel for 7 days quarantine. Everything was perfect. The view on my room was good because I made special request when made the booking. Breakfast buffet was great. Food for room service were amazing too. Laundry was quick turnaround (within same day). All staff (Front Desk, Housekeeping, Restaurant & Security) were very attentive and responded to every requests fast.
Con: Room facing main road was a bit noisy especially Saturday night. A lot of teenagers riding motorcycle with loud exhaust passing the road. The problem can be fixed if Hotel willing to consider install sound dampener on the room windows.
Review May 2021: Stayed here for quarantine. This hotel was chosen by KKM. Totally did not expect it because I already made booking in GoldenBay Hotel before flying into Bintulu.
The room that I got was surprisingly small (Standard King, 226 sqft) for a hotel that carry Marriott name. My room got a view of back alley of shoplots. The rate is a bit on pricey side for this size of the room.

After numerous calls to the reception staff until the manager, they finally agreed to change my room. The new room was facing main road, and can see the river. I've been told by the staff that rooms facing road will hear noise from vehicles that passing thru, but for me it was almost negligible compared to the back alley shoplot view from previous room. I had no trouble sleeping in the new room. The noise is there, and I know for some people its not acceptable. But hotel can invest to put thicker glass material to insulate or at least dampen the sound from outside.
However, this new room came with a new problem too. There was unpleasant smell coming out from the toilet. Called the Maintenance Staff to check. They came and brought together chemicals to clear the smell. That shows this smell problem is not something new to them, and I'm not the first person complaining about it. After the staff pour down the chemicals into toilet bowl and shower trap and also placed air freshner in the toilet, the smell was gone. But after few hours that bad smell re-appeared.
Another thing to complaint, when I ordered food from Grab Delivery the food was passed to the security staff at the lobby. However it took 3 phone calls and 25 minutes for my food to get delivered from lobby to my room. Unacceptable.
I would give this hotel at least 4 star review because I like the interior of the room and toilet. Everything is brand new. Most of power outlet in the room has two USB ports built-in in the outlet. Even the room lighting was pleasant to my eyes. Bed and pillows are very comfortable too.

The manager called on my 8th day stay here and made a sincere apology for all the inconveniences caused.
I like this attitude in service industry. This shows the willingness to learn from past mistakes and strive for better. There are a lot of room for improvement.
I will consider to stay here again in the future if manage to secure better...

Everything is perfect for me. ||From the first moment I stepped into the lobby, myself and my other colleague were greeted by Mr Ronan and one lady (Im sorry I didnt manage to get your name but i hope you know who you are - 5.10.2023 at 1140am). We were so happy when they informed us that the room is ready and we can check-in earlier. I love how Mr Ronan & the other lady welcomed us and their aplitude service in making sure everything is okay for us. During our check out, Mr Ronan & Ms Jesintha assisted us for our last moment with Fairfield. Thanks Ms Jesintha for helping me with the access card (my room’s card got issue to access and open the door). Great job FO team. ||For Kava experience, I would saya Kava is one of the cleanest restaurant that I have ever been. Eventhough there is no view outside the restaurant but I love how Kava’s ambience in the morning. Staffs are all good and ready to serve us. Thanks to Mr Alexster, Ms Sabrina and the other two staffs (one male and one female wearing hijab) for the service. I would like to mention that Mr Alexster is good in making sure we have the best experience in Kanva by asking and checking us for anything that he can help with. Ms Sabrina is very attentive and alert as she straight away collected the plate once we are done with the food. Good job F&B team. You guys are awesome. ||One thing I need to address to F&B team is that - on 7.10.2023 during breakfast, the watermelon was overriped and the aftertaste is weird. (attached the picture of the same here). Perhaps F&B would do something on this ya. But the rest of food were good and excellent. Read moreMust say it's a good hotel. Their staffs are very professional and friendly. They gave you this welcoming feeling. Even the housekeeping staff greet and welcomes you.
I've never been to any hotel that their housekeeping crew help you to figure out either to turn left or right to find your room when your just out of the lift. Small gestures like this really shows they took their efforts in providing best hospitality service to their guest.
Front desk also friendly, helps to get to know Bintulu town better. And I always love when the front desk personnel welcome with smiles. Makes me to forget the long journey that I had.
The hotel have modern design, just nice sizing and touch for solo travellers.
Room service are also commendable and their meal is in large portions. Main course are good.
Deserts are something they can improve further. The good thing is that they took the feedback in good way and offered to replace with other options. Well done. Totally understand that it is not easy to get good premium ingredients/material in this town.
The chef told me that his speciality is in pasta and pizza.. New offering coming the hotel. Was also told that they just have new pastry chef coming in, another one to look forward when I come back next month.
