It’s actually a shop-lot house. They took a few of the first floor area. The counter is at ground floor and situated at the corner. Parking wise a bit limited, but usually there’s plenty if late at night or very early in the morning.
There’s no lift coz it’s only 1 storey place. The rooms are all at the first floor. They have a coway water filter machine so you don’t have to worry about clean water supply. They have it cold, room temperature and hot water options. But no breakfast provided. Howeverc there’s a small showcase that sell some snacks at a bit higher price.
Otherwise the place is quite convenient as there a lot of food places around within walking distance. They even have llao llao nearby. They also have 7-Eleven that is not that far away from the hotel.
The bathroom is clean, but I do noticed in the early morning when I started shower, I can smell a faint foul smelling from the drainage hole. But it’s only for a moment. But there’s no stagnant water though.
During my second night here there’s a heavy rain and a few of the places in Sandakan blackout, this hotel wasn’t spared. They do have generator but it keeps shutting down a few times for the past 3-4 hours.
Security wise I think is ok. Staffing seems a bit short here as it’s a bit difficult to find people for iron & ironing board in the morning. They communicate with the clients through WhatsApp (they share the QR code in the room). There’s no in-room telephone to connect to the counter.
They also have a van that send their clients to the airport at RM5 per person. Though you could book for a GrabCar in advance if...
Read moreThis is my second time staying at Hotel Meliden. The room is small but comfortable enough for one person during a short business trip.
During my first stay, everything was acceptable. The water pressure was fine, and although the built-in water heater was not working properly, the hotel had provided an additional water heater in the room, which solved the issue.
However, on my second visit, the room condition was very disappointing. There was no added water heater, and when I turned the tap to the hot side, the water pressure dropped to a mere drip. How is a guest supposed to shower with hot water in the morning under such circumstances? This is a basic necessity, and it is concerning that the management would rent out a room in this condition.
The inconsistency between rooms is also unacceptable. Guests are paying the same rate, so the standards and amenities should be equal across all rooms. Unfortunately, that is not the case here.
Lastly, I would like to apologize to the staff, as I did raise this issue with them. I understand that they are not at fault and are unable to provide a proper solution due to limitations set by the management. It is clear that the problem lies with the management’s unwillingness to invest in maintaining consistent...
Read moreI rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience at Hotel Meliden was so upsetting that I feel it’s important to warn others. From the moment I arrived, the staff were incredibly rude and dismissive. Instead of being helpful or welcoming, they made me feel like I was an inconvenience.
Throughout my stay, their behavior only got worse. Some staff members were openly disrespectful and even harassing, which made me feel extremely uncomfortable and unwelcome. It’s shocking to see such unprofessional conduct in a hospitality setting.
I tried to remain polite and patient, but there was no effort on their part to fix the situation or even acknowledge how poorly I was being treated. By the time I checked out, I was just relieved to leave.
This hotel completely failed to provide even the most basic level of customer service. I would strongly recommend avoiding Hotel Meliden — there are plenty of other places where you’ll be treated with kindness...
