First of all, I did not stay in this hotel but was there to conduct a training at the hotel function room. This hotel is located next to the Merdeka Mall along the way from Miri to Niah. It is easily located with two landmarks on both sides of the hotel. If you are coming from Miri town it is on your right after the Shell station. If you are coming from Niah then itbis after the Merdeka Mall on your left.||||The hotel is actually an apartment but converted to a boutique resort hotel. I was given the opportunity to have a look at the room configurations during the time conducting the program. It has three room types ie studio, two bedroom and three bedroom apartment. And there is also a penthouse for those who want to have the luxuries of space.||||The lobby is simple and it comes with a nice seating area for waiting. There is no cafe to serve around but they have an open space for catering when you conducted programs at the hotel function room. The function room is enough to fit 25 people in cluster setup or about 40 if you use classroom layout. ||||There is a lift to serve all floors and your door key is the electronic type. The staff is friendly and they have been doing a good job to assist their customers.||The room is nicely furbished with modern furniture.||||All apartments were equipped with selected satellite channels on a 42" LCD TV, a small fridge to keep your food fresh, a microwave to heat the refrigerated meals and coffee making facilities. There is also a nice dining table for six except in the studio apartment where the table is for four.||||The living room has a very nice leather sofa in 1+2+3 combination. All bedroom comes with a king size bed and attached bathroom for the master bedroom. The apartment is tiled with nice marble but fitted with carpet for the bedroom.||||If you fancy having a spacious living, then booked for the penthouse that is a two bedroom apartment. It has a walking closet for both bedroom and also a nice working area for you to do your office work. The penthouse also has a balcony where you can enjoy the view from the roof top. ||||Overall the hotel is quite popular among frequent traveler based on the cars parked at...
Read moreWe were two couples (four of us) who came to Miri for the Borneo Jazz Festival, And subsequently transit to Mulu.||We were given the two room apartment. Each room came with a queen/king size bed and an adjoining bathroom. The rest of the facilities are as what the other reviews mentioned.||We loved that it's so spacious for the four of us, not surprising considering it was supposed to be an apartment before it became a hotel. ||One thing you should know: The hotel is not near the town/city centre. A cab ride to town can easily cost you about RM30-RM40. So maybe renting a car would be better after all. The good thing is they provide complementary one way transit from the airport to the hotel, but only between 9am to 6pm!||That being said, you can get your groceries at the supermarket opposite, or in the mall next to the hotel. To sample Sarawak street food, head opposite as well for the likes of Teh-C Special, Kolo Mee, Sarawak Laksa and Kueh Chap (all...
Read moreMerdeka Suite Hotel is patronized by many local families and groups. It is close to the airport (5 minutes). It looks beautiful from the outside. I did not choose to stay here but was with a group of Malaysian friends who picked this hotel. I was in the studio suite which was spacious as it has a sofa/ TV area, a dining table and kitchenette. However, the place is not well maintained. The toilet door was moldy with a rusty hooks to hang your towels, the sink had cement on the edges, the 'bedroom area' was carpeted which does not work well in the tropics, the sofa had a smell of sweat and it is certainly not in a pristine condition. ||||Next door is the Merdeka Mall which has the Ta Kiong supermarket and a Mr DIY shop. Many shops are closed down so the mall is rather empty. Across the road are many eateries. It is safer to cross the road using the overhead bridge...
